Mataram, University of Mataram — Another proud achievement was made by Khadijah Baasitu Sholeha, a student from the Faculty of Law, Social, and Political Sciences (FHISIP), University of Mataram (Unram). The Communication Science student won Second Place in the National Journalistic Article Competition organized by the Indonesian Computer University (Unikom) Bandung, held online on October 29, 2025.

In this competition, which was participated in by students from various universities across Indonesia, Khadijah presented an article titled “A Voice Slowly Fading Amid the Noise of Time.” The piece explored Cilokaq, a traditional musical genre from Lombok, highlighting how younger generations are beginning to forget or are even unfamiliar with their own regional cultural heritage.

According to Khadijah, the purpose of writing this article was to raise awareness among young people about the importance of appreciating and preserving local traditional arts.

“I chose to write about Cilokaq because I’ve noticed that many in the younger generation no longer know about this traditional music. In fact, Cilokaq is part of the Sasak cultural identity that must be preserved so it does not disappear over time,” she explained.

Through this achievement, Khadijah hopes that her work will serve as a reminder that preserving local culture is just as important as keeping pace with modern developments. Her accomplishment also demonstrates that Communication Science students at Unram are capable of making a meaningful contribution to cultural preservation through impactful journalistic work.
