Mataram, University of Mataram – The University of Mataram (Unram) once again affirmed its commitment to nurturing outstanding young generations who are competitive at the global level and ready to make meaningful contributions by organizing the Second Stage Selection of the National Olympiad in Mathematics and Natural Sciences (ON-MIPA). The selection was held on Friday (August 22) at the Dome Building of Unram, serving as an important step in preparing representatives for Region VIII.

A total of 47 of the university’s best students participated in the selection, divided into four fields of study: 12 participants in Biology, 13 in Chemistry, 12 in Mathematics, and 10 in Physics.

In his remarks, the Head of the Academic and Student Affairs Bureau of Unram, Dwi Suswanto, S.Kom., M.M., emphasized that the university’s vision to become an excellent, impactful, and globally competitive institution is supported not only by its faculty and staff but also through the active role of its students.

“Human resource development is Unram’s primary focus. Therefore, we continuously encourage students to sharpen their abilities in both hard skills and soft skills. We want our students not only to be capable of solving problems quickly and accurately but also to possess emotional intelligence (EQ) that is balanced with intellectual intelligence (IQ),” he stated.

Furthermore, Dwi emphasized the importance of integrity and fairness in every stage of the ON-MIPA selection process. He highlighted that these two values serve as a fundamental foundation that will guide students not only toward academic success but also toward readiness in facing global challenges.

He further stressed that the ON-MIPA selection is not merely a competition, but also an opportunity for Unram students to demonstrate their best potential while serving as a stepping stone toward achievements at the national level.
