Unram Inaugurates Six Permanent Professors

Mataram, University of Mataram – The University of Mataram officially inaugurated six new Permanent Professors on Thursday, July 31, 2025, in the Senate Conference Room at the Rectorate Building. The inauguration was led by the Rector, Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D., and attended by the Vice Governor of West Nusa Tenggara Province, members of the University Senate, fellow professors, and invited guests.

The six newly inaugurated Permanent Professors are:

  1. Prof. Dr. Drs. Sudirman, M.A., from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, specializing in sociolinguistics and English language teaching.

  2. Prof. Dr. Ir. I Wayan Lanus Sumadiasa, B.Sc ., M.Kes., from the Faculty of Animal Science, specializing in animal breeding and reproduction.

  3. Prof. Dr. Imam Bachtiar, M.Sc., from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, specializing in biological oceanography.

  4. Prof. Dr. Ir. Maskur, M.Si., from the Faculty of Animal Science, specializing in animal breeding.

  5. Prof. Agusdin, S.E., M.B.A., D.B.A., from the Faculty of Economics and Business, specializing in management.

  6. Prof. Dr. Saprizal Hadisaputra, S.Si., M.Sc., from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, specializing in computational chemistry.

During the inauguration ceremony, each of the newly appointed professors also delivered their scientific orations. Prof. Sudirman presented his oration titled “Bilingualism and the Urgency of Preserving Endangered Languages: A Sociolinguistic Analysis of the Sustainability of Local Languages in Indonesia.” Prof. I Wayan Lanus delivered a talk on “The Role of Reproductive Biotechnology in Breeding Programs and Livestock Production.” This was followed by Prof. Imam Bachtiar, who presented his oration on “Coral Reefs in Indonesia in the Anthropocene Era: World Champion with a Plastic Medal.”

Prof. Maskur gave a scientific presentation titled “Molecular Biotechnology Approaches in Livestock Breeding Programs in Indonesia.” Prof. Agusdin shared insights through his oration on “Entrepreneurial Processes and Barriers among the Sasak Community on Lombok Island, Indonesia.” Last, Prof. Saprizal delivered his oration on “The Application of Computational Chemistry to Test Corrosion Inhibitors from Natural Materials: An Environmentally Friendly Innovation for Indonesia.”

The oration session was followed by the ceremonial conferral of the Professor’s Gordon by the Rector of the University of Mataram, symbolizing the official inauguration of the six newly appointed Permanent Professors. This moment marked a significant milestone in the academic journeys of the professors.

In his remarks, Rector of Unram, Prof. Bambang, expressed his gratitude and pride in the inauguration of the six new professors and the University of Mataram’s success in attaining Superior Accreditation, along with various national and international achievements. He emphasized that these accomplishments would not have been possible without the contributions of Unram’s former leaders and the continued dedication of the entire academic community in advancing the university.

“This inauguration is not just about a title, it’s about a commitment to shaping society through knowledge. A professor is a guiding light in the academic world, one who must illuminate the path of research, innovation, and service,” said the Rector.

He also called on all parties, including local governments, the business sector, and community groups, to work together in creating real impact through higher education. Amid today’s global and local challenges, Prof. Bambang expressed his hope that Unram will continue to transform into an institution that is adaptive, relevant, and truly impactful for the people of West Nusa Tenggara and Indonesia.

The Vice Governor of West Nusa Tenggara Province, Hj. Indah Dhamayanti Putri, S.E., M.IP., was also present at the event and delivered her remarks on behalf of the Provincial Government. She expressed her appreciation and emphasized that the presence of new professors at the University of Mataram is a source of pride for the people of NTB, as their contributions play a crucial role in advancing the region’s education and human resource quality.

She also extended her gratitude to the Rector of Unram for the strong collaboration in supporting strategic regional programs, including food security and education development. In closing, the Vice Governor expressed her hope that the success of today’s newly inaugurated professors would inspire future generations across NTB.
