Unram–Jwara Project Highlights Financial Literacy, Safe Migration, and Mental Health

Mataram, University of Mataram – The Jwara Project, in collaboration with the University of Mataram (Unram), held a socialization program titled “Building Prepared and Prosperous Migrant Workers: Safe Migration, Smart Financial Management, and Mental Well-being” on Wednesday, September 17, 2025. Alongside the socialization program, the event also marked the conclusion of the Jwara Project team’s assignment in Banyu Urip Village, Perempung Hamlet, Gerung District.

The event was attended by the residents of Banyu Urip Village, particularly from Perempung Hamlet, as well as invited guests who also served as speakers:

  1. Gusti Ngurah Sandiana, M.M., CFP, CSA, CIB., Head of the Indonesia Stock Exchange Regional Office for West Nusa Tenggara.

  2. Made Setyaningrum, S.E., Head of the Institutional and Community Affairs Team, BP3MI.

  3. Wahyu Hasni Ilmi, M.Psi., Psychologist., Clinical Psychologist from the National Narcotics Board (BNN).

  4. Mega Nisfa Mahroja, S.IP., M.Si., M.A., Founder of Rumah Perempuan Migran and Field Supervisor of the Jwara Project.

The socialization program began with a session on financial literacy delivered by Gusti Ngurah Sandiana, who emphasized the importance for the Perempung community to become more financially aware particularly in prioritizing expenses and setting aside part of their income for investment.

This was followed by a presentation on Safe Migration by Made Setyaningrum, who outlined the procedures and requirements for prospective migrant workers. She also highlighted the risks faced by Indonesian migrant workers, especially those working abroad without legal documentation.

The final session was delivered by Wahyu Hasni Ilmi, who focused on the mental health of migrant workers and their families back home. He underscored the importance of maintaining open communication to ease emotional strain and minimize misunderstandings between family members working abroad and those remaining in Indonesia.

The program concluded with the presentation of certificates to the speakers, followed by the closing ceremony for the Jwara Project team’s community engagement activities, led by Mega Nisfa Mahroja, S.IP., M.Si., M.A.
