Unram Officially Opens Its 63rd Dies Natalis with the Theme “Impact for the Nation: Food Sovereignty, Strong Generation, Great Nation”

Mataram, University of Mataram — The University of Mataram (Unram) officially opened the series of events celebrating its 63rd Dies Natalis, held at the Rectorate Field in a lively atmosphere of togetherness. The opening ceremony was symbolically led by Unram’s Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Sitti Hilyana, M.Si., marking the beginning of various academic, social, and community service activities that will take place until the end of November 2025.
In his report, the Head of the 63rd Dies Natalis Committee, Dr. Moh. Taqiudin, S.Pt., M.Si., stated that this year’s celebration carries the theme “Impact for the Nation: Food Sovereignty, Strong Generation, Great Nation.” The theme reflects Unram’s commitment to creating a tangible contribution to society, particularly in strengthening national food independence and developing resilient human resources.
Dr. Taqiudin also expressed his appreciation to all committee members who have initiated and fostered cross-faculty collaboration in organizing a diverse range of activities for this year’s Dies Natalis celebration.
“This theme is beyond ceremonial; it serves as a broad framework guiding all university activities to benefit society,” he stated.
Furthermore, in her remarks, Prof. Sitti Hilyana emphasized that the 63rd Dies Natalis is not merely a celebration of age but also a reflection on Unram’s long journey in creating tangible change for society.
“Dies Natalis is not only about the age of the university, but also about the extent of the contribution we have made and our future contribution to the country. With a spirit of collaboration, innovation, and sustainability, Unram must continue to be a pioneer in realizing food self-sufficiency and strengthening the next generation,” she said.
As a symbol of hope and new spirit, the opening ceremony was also enlivened by the release of 63 doves by the university board of leaders. The procession symbolized freedom, peace, and Unram’s spirit to continue flying high, bringing benefits to the nation and the region.
The 63rd Anniversary celebrations will feature a variety of activities, ranging from free medical treatment, social services, mangrove restoration, to beach cleanups in various areas
The opening ceremony also emphasized the importance of synergy among the entire academic community to transform Unram into a world-class university. “We must be confident, excel, and dare to stand shoulder to shoulder with other universities, both nationally and internationally,” she said in her speech.
The event was lively, marking Unram’s new spirit in entering its 63rd year with a vision of becoming a university that excels, is globally competitive, and has an impact on the country.
