Mataram, University of Mataram – University of Mataram (Unram) officially opened the 2025 University Level Student Musabaqoh Tilawatil Qur’an (MTQ) at the Unram Dome Building this morning, Friday (27/6). The event was attended by Vice Rector III for Student Affairs and Alumni, Head of Academic and Student Affairs Bureau, Head of MBPIK Working Team, Deans, and dozens of participating students.

Vice Rector III Unram, Dr. Sujita S.T., M.T., in his speech emphasized that this MTQ is not just a competition, but also a means of fostering student character and spirituality. “Student MTQ is not just about competition, we want Unram students to become individuals who love the Qur’an, practice it, and bring it to the center of academic and social life,” he said.

The coordinator of the MTQ Unram judges, Abdul Kadir Jaelani, M.Pd, reported that the implementation involved participants from all Unram faculties with a total of 169 students. They will compete in various branches of competition, including Tilawatil Qur’an, Hifzhil Qur’an, Qira’at Sab’ah, Scientific Debate on the content of the Qur’an and many more which are scheduled to take place for 2 days until June 27-28, 2025.

“The purpose of holding MTQ at the University of Mataram level is to find the best candidates among our students to be sent to the National MTQ which will be held at Lambung Mangkurat University in October 2025,” he explained.

With the holding of this university-level Student MTQ, Unram reaffirmed its commitment in fostering young generation who are not only academically superior, but also have a strong love and understanding of the Qur’an. Hopefully, this event will become a space for the birth of Quranic people who are able to bring the good name of the campus in the national stage.
