Unram Participates in 2025 Coordination and Public Relations Competency Strengthening Program at Brawijaya University

Mataram, University of Mataram — University of Mataram (Unram), represented by one of its public relations staff, Allen Tiffanie, participated in the 2025 Coordination and Public Relations Competency Strengthening Program for Higher Education, held by the Secretary of the Directorate General of Higher Education at Brawijaya University, Malang, on Monday, 8 December 2025. The program aims to enhance public relations and communication competencies within higher education institutions.
The event was opened with remarks from the Acting Secretary of the Directorate General of Higher Education, Prof. Dr. med. Setiawan, dr., who emphasized the importance of public relations in higher education communication.
“Public relations play a role not only as an information provider but also as a strategic liaison between institutions and the public, including the media, government, businesses, and the wider community. In an era of increasingly fast, accurate, and dynamic digital communication, the role of public relations determines how information is delivered in a relevant and trusted manner,” he stated.
Prof. Setiawan also added that the program aims to strengthen the professionalism of public relations officers, build a responsive, data-driven communication system, and encourage cross-sector collaboration.
The program featured presentations from various speakers covering topics such as the Public Communication Strategy Policy by the Head of General Bureau of Public Relations and Procurement; Policy and Implementation of Functional Positions for Public Relations Officers by the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs; Guidelines for Developing Public Communication Strategies by the Head of Public Relations and Protocol Division, Secretariat General of the Ministry; and Digital Communication and Social Media Strategies: Tips for Managing Social Media by Wicaksono, Digital Communication and Social Media Specialist and Advisor.
In addition to the presentations, the event served as a platform for exchanging experiences and references on public relations and communication management from other universities, which can later be used to develop Unram’s own public relations strategies.
