Mataram, University of Mataram – The Rector of the University of Mataram (Unram), Prof. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D., officially inaugurated and administered the oath of office to Ir. Rina Adriani, MP., as Vice Dean for Finance and General Affairs of the Faculty of Animal Science for the 2025–2029 period, on Friday (July 11), at the Senate Conference Room, Unram Rectorate.

In his remarks, the Rector of Unram expressed his full support for the Faculty of Animal Science to continue serving as the driving force and leading in the development of the livestock sector in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

“We continuously encourage the Faculty of Animal Science to remain a leading force in advancing the livestock sector in NTB,” said the Rector. He emphasized that the Faculty of Animal Science holds a strategic position as a center of knowledge, innovation, and conservation, in line with the region’s strong potential in animal science.

The Rector also highlighted the importance of preserving deer, which has become an icon of NTB, amid its declining population. “We must not let the deer remain our icon while its actual presence disappears. It is essential that we both develop and conserve it,” emphasized Prof. Bambang.

Prof. Bambang also encouraged the development of buffalo as a promising commodity and called on the Faculty of Animal Science to continue responding to the growing demands of NTB’s tourism sector. “Market demands are increasing, and the Faculty of Animal Science must take part in meeting those needs. We produce many brilliant ideas and sophisticated documents, but what truly matters is how those ideas are translated into something tangible and beneficial for the community,” he stressed.

Unram Rector also encouraged the expansion of Lamtoro Beef development in Sumbawa Island, describing it as a strategic initiative by Unram in collaboration with the Sumbawa Regency Government. This effort aims to establish an integrated livestock zone that is not only productive but also educational and attractive. “We need to create something that draws people in, something they can visit, observe, and learn from directly. Just like Australia, which has successfully developed an integrated free-grazing system, we too must build a tropical livestock model that serves as a regional benchmark and source of pride,” he stated.

Concluding his remarks, the Rector extended his congratulations to Ir. Rina Adriani, MP., on her reappointment as Vice Dean for Finance and General Affairs of the Faculty of Animal Science. “Congratulations on continuing your service. Let’s keep positioning the Faculty of Animal Science as a leading force in advancing the livestock sector in NTB,” he said.
