Unram sends 2 leading badminton sisters to POMNAS XVIII 2023 in South Kalimantan
Mataram, University of Mataram – At the XVIII Student Sports Week (POMNAS) 2023 held in South Kalimantan Province (Kalsel), the University of Mataram (Unram) contingent sent 2 mainstay athletes who were ready to compete in badminton on November 14-19, 2023 at GOR Berkat Abadi Banjarbaru.
Afifah Lora Hidayahtul from the Faculty of Law and Baiq Syakirah Rismala from the Faculty of Economics and Business represented Unram by following the women’s team, women’s singles and women’s doubles numbers.
“As the most prestigious biennial event among students, of course Unram has also selected its best athletes. Lora and Syakirah are athletes who already have a myriad of achievements, they also got the best performance at PORPROV NTB last February. So they are expected to be able to gain achievements as representatives of Unram in this event, “said Ir. H. Abdul Faruq, M.M. as Head of Student Affairs Unram.
Of the 16 sports competed in POMNAS XVIII Year 2023, the Unram contingent followed 7 sports consisting of Taekwondo, Badminton, Pencak Silat, Kempo, Chess, Swimming, and Karate.
Dr. Prayogi Dwina Angga, S.Or., M.Pd. as one of the Unram Team officials said that Unram has great potential to win medals from various sports that are followed.
“Our biggest hope is that student athletes representing Unram can show their peak performance at POMNAS this time, and of course there must be more medals that can be brought home. This is certainly based on the best achievements of the athletes and the experience they have had, some athletes have also competed in the previous POMNAS event in West Sumatra, “he explained.
