Unram Showcases Leading Researches to Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology and International Delegates

Mataram, University of Mataram – University of Mataram (Unram) presented Unram’s leading research with the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Stella Christie, Ph.D. This activity took place in the Senate Conference Room of the Rectorate on Sunday, May 18, 2025, and became a strategic forum to introduce Unram’s best innovations to national policy makers and international partners.

The event was also attended by the Vice Governor of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province, represented by the Assistant for Government and Welfare Affairs of the NTB Provincial Secretariat, as well as international delegates such as the University of California, Berkeley and Sea6, who participated in discussions on research development and strategic partnerships. Their presence was warmly welcomed by the Rector of Unram, Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D., accompanied by university leaders.

In his speech, the Rector conveyed a number of excellent innovations that have been developed by the campus, including their impact on society and their collaborative potential at the national and international levels.

“Unram is proud to present these valuable findings to Indonesia as one of the leading universities in the eastern region. We believe that West Nusa Tenggara has a wealth of resources and great potential, and we are deeply grateful if the central government and foreign partners can provide support in its development,” he said.

The event then continued with direct presentations from inventor researchers who have produced excellent research in various fields, including Prof. Dr. dr. Mulyanto presented his research results related to Covid-19 Antigen; Prof. Ir. Dahlanudin, M.Rur.Sc., Ph.D. introduced Lamtoro Beef, a Lamtoro-based animal feed innovation that is environmentally friendly and highly competitive.

Then, Eka Sunarwidhi Prasedya, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D. explained the development of seaweed cultivation research that significantly impacted the maritime sector and coastal economy in NTB.

Representatives from the University of California, Berkeley, Prof. John D Coates, Ph.D., also delivered a presentation entitled “Strategic Partnership to Develop a Resilient Seaweed Industry in Indonesia”, which aims to strengthen international collaboration in research and development of the marine industry.

In addition, the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Stella Christie, Ph.D. expressed her deep appreciation for Unram.

“Thank you for the warm welcome. I am truly proud of the ways Unram’s research has directly addresses the needs of the community. These innovations demonstrate the tremendous potential of Eastern Indonesia, and Unram has proven itself as a frontrunner in advancing locally grounded science,” she said.

Through this activity, Unram further reinforces its role as a center of research excellence, capable of fostering synergy between science, policy, and community needs
