Unram Solidifies Steps Toward a World-Class University Through the QS World Technical Guidance with INTI International University Malaysia
Mataram, University of Mataram – University of Mataram (Unram) through the World Class University Acceleration Unit (UP UBD) held QS World Technical Guidance with INTI International University Malaysia for two days, on Wednesday and Thursday, October 16-17, 2024 at the Senate Conference Room, Unram Rectorate. This activity aims to align the work programs, strengthen strategies, and accelerate Unram’s steps in achieving world-class university status through ranking in QS World University Rankings (QS WUR).
In his remarks, the Head of UP UBD, Prof. Dr. Hamsu Kadriyan, SpTHT-KL, Sub. Sp. Onk(K), M.Kes. revealed that although UP UBD was only formed a few months ago and began actively working around the last month but various valuable lessons have been learned.
“Today’s technical guidance is crucial because we will directly learn from a university that has successfully made an extraordinary improvement, INTI International University Malaysia. They managed to jump from QS Asia rankings and enter QS WUR in position 1000+, then jumped to rank 516 in a very short time, “said Prof. Hamsu.
Prof. Hamsu emphasized that the achievements of INTI International University Malaysia became a motivation for Unram. “Although we are currently in position 1401+ QS WUR, I am optimistic that with the right strategy, we can rise to 800 in the world in the next one to two years,” continued Prof. Hamsu, referring to the analysis of Prof. Goh Khang Wen as Pro Vice Chancellor, Global Engagement INTI International University Malaysia, who predicted Unram’s great opportunity to improve its position in the near future.
Prof. Hamsu also emphasized that Unram has great potential and emphasized to use this great opportunity to gain knowledge from Prof. Goh Khang Wen. “We must really utilize every lesson we get in this technical guidance. The concrete steps we implement will bring us closer to our target of becoming a world-class university.”
Unram Rector, Prof. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D. in his speech expressed his appreciation to Prof. Goh Khang Wen and Ms. Siti Nurbaayah Daud from INTI International University Malaysia for their time to share their experiences. “We are very grateful for the real commitment of INTI International University Malaysia to strengthen cooperation between universities in order to improve the quality of education in Unram,” said Prof. Bambang.
The Rector also emphasized that Unram’s achievement as a world-class university is a challenging journey and requires the commitment of all elements. “Currently, Unram is ranked 1401+ QS WUR, and to reach a higher position, it requires planned, innovative and sustainable efforts. This technical guidance is a strategic step to increase our capacity in the field of ranking, starting from the aspects of research discovery, learning experience, employability, global engagement, to sustainability,” continued Prof. Bambang.
Prof. Bambang hopes that through this activity, Unram can absorb as much lessons as possible from their partner, INTI International University Malaysia. “The knowledge and insights we get today will be an important resource in developing our institution, strengthening our vision towards a world-class university, and making a real contribution to the development of human resources.”
The technical guidance series included Material Presentation by Prof. Dr. Goh Khang Wen as Pro Vice Chancellor, Global Engagement INTI International University Malaysia, and Ms. Siti Nurbaayah Daud, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Communication INTI International University and Colleges Malaysia with material on WUR Ranking and Strategies in the Fields of Research and Discoveries; Learning Experience; Employability; Global Engagement; and Sustainability guided by the Head of UP UBD Prof. Dr. dr. Hamsu Kadriyan, SpTHT-KL, Sub. Sp. Onk (K), M.Kes.
There was also a material presentation by Prof. Dr. Goh Khang Wen with the material Lesson Learn of 516 QS WUR Ranking from INTI International University Malaysia which in this case was guided by the Secretary of UP UBD Unram, Baiq Rien Handayani, SP., M.Si., Ph.D..
This guidance was also filled with Sharing Sanggar Belajar Program (International Activities in Border Areas; Signing of MoA INTI International University Malaysia with the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Faculty of Food Technology and Agroindustry (Fatepa), Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP); Faculty of Engineering (FT); Faculty of Agriculture (Faperta); Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) Unram.
There was also a presentation of the Work Plan in the Research and Discovery Assistance Field by the Head of the Research and Discovery Team Prof. Buan Anshari, S.T. M.Sc (Eng)., Ph.D.; Learning Experience Field by the Head of the Learning and Experience Team Prof. Jauhar Fajrin, S.T., M.Sc. Ph.D.
The presentation of the Employability Work Plan by the Employability Team Leader, Prof. Dr. Mansur Afifi; Global Engagement by the Global Engagement Team Leader, Ahmad Junaidi, M.A. Ph.D. and Sustainability by the Sustainability Team Leader, who in this case was represented by Cahyo Mustiko Okta Muvianto, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D. accompanied and discussed directly by Prof. Dr. Goh Khang Wen provided deep insight into sustainable development strategies that can be applied in the work programs of each field.
The QS World Technical Guidance with INTI International University Malaysia marks an important milestone in Unram’s journey to become a world-class university.
