Unram Strengthens Connections between Academics and Industry through Academy Link Industry Workshop
Mataram, University of Mataram – On Wednesday (6/3) the Business and Innovation Incubator Center (KUBINOV) of the Research and Community Service Institute of the University of Mataram (LPPM Unram) held an Academy Link Industry event with the theme “Synergy between Academics and Industry Towards Digital-Based Independent Entrepreneurship”. In the activity which took place in the Main Conference Room of LPPM Unram, was attended by 50 KUBINOV assisted tenants consisting of Unram Lecturers, Students, and Alumni.
In this activity, the Secretary of LPPM, Prof. Dr. Ir. I Gusti Putu Muliarta Aryana, MP. accompanied by the Head of Business Incubator and Innovation Center, Dr. Didy Ika Supryadi, S.E., MM. and all KUBINOV LPPM Unram administrators.
As part of the Independent Learning – Independent Campus (MBKM) policy framework, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology implements various programs to build an ecosystem that encourages the improvement of the quality and relevance of higher education in Indonesia. This includes offering various competition-based funding programs.
Various data and information in the field show that a number of researches conducted in universities have produced outputs that have the potential to be applied as solutions to various problems in society or developed for commercialization that can increase national productivity and competitiveness. In addition, a number of universities also have qualified expertise to answer various problems faced by the industrial sector, which in turn will encourage improved performance and competitiveness of the national industry.
In order to bridge and encourage the creation of synergies between academics and industry experts, KUBINOV Unram provides the “Academy Link Industry Workshop” program.
Head of the Business Incubator and Innovation Center, Dr. Didy reported, “This program is intended as a business aggregator that is able to become a space and bridge connecting tenants under the guidance of KUBINOV Unram with the industrial world both nationally and regionally in NTB. Not only that, in this workshop tenants will also be introduced to industrial communities that can be a space for product or business collaboration.”
“The Student Entrepreneurship Development Program has become a major issue for higher education institutions in Indonesia, related to the high number of open unemployment who have an educational background of university graduates,” added the young doctor of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Unram.
This condition is due to the paradigm of job seekers and the mismatch of competence with the demand of business and industry. Various efforts to develop a culture of entrepreneurship among students have been initiated by universities to improve entrepreneurial culture among students, where these efforts are intended to form a soul and improve entrepreneurial skills.
However, one of the fundamental problems faced in this development effort is related to the aspect of program sustainability to continue to be sustainable from time to time, considering that the formation and development of culture cannot be done in a short time and requires the involvement of many parties so that the process can take place continuously. The triple helix concept, which is a synergy between the academic-business world and the government, can be used as a solution to ensure the sustainability of the development program.
Prof. Dr. Ir. I Gusti Putu Muliarta Aryana, MP. as Secretary of LPPM in his speech gave appreciation, “LPPM gives full attention and support to the implementation of this workshop inviting speakers consisting of national, regional and industrial community experts in NTB. The presence of these speakers will certainly be able to support to create synergies between fostered tenants and the industrial sector that can increase the capacity of tenants towards a competitive industry.”
The implementation of the Academy Link Industry Workshop in 2024 presented 3 speakers including the Head of the Trade Office (Kadis) of NTB Province, Baiq Nelly Yuniarti, AP, M.Si; Specialist I Do It Solutions, Idham, M.Kom; and ITDC Planning and Research Manager, Ranie Kami.
The Head of Trade of NTB Province, Baiq Nelly Yuniarti, AP, M.Si in a brief interview hoped, “The Regional Government encourages creative ideas and innovation of every business actor in order to continue to utilize opportunities while still highlighting the local characteristics of the region so that it is increasingly strong and highly competitive in the global market.”
Nelly also emphasized the importance of collaboration between business practitioners with academics at universities and digital industry practitioners related to research to develop product innovation and digitalization of their business. This is in order to boost the sales of local products so that they can increasingly fulfill market demand at home and overseas.
This activity is a collaboration between KUBINOV LPPM Unram with government and private agencies and will continue to be promoted to foster the entrepreneurial ecosystem within Unram.
