Unram Welcomes 22 International Students from Myanmar

Mataram, University of Mataram – The University of Mataram (Unram) is proud to welcome 22 international students from Myanmar who will study at Unram as part of the European Union Mobility Programme for Myanmar 2024 international class. The welcoming ceremony was held online via Zoom Meeting on Tuesday (6/8) led by the Rector of Unram.

In his speech, the Rector of Unram, Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D. delivered a warm and motivational message to the international students.

”I am grateful to have all of you here today. It is an honor to welcome you all to join our INDEEP program in 2024,” he said.

Prof Bambang on the occasion emphasised Unram’s commitment in providing support to developing countries to continue their education at Unram. This is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially the 4th goal on quality education. Unram endeavours to ensure that inclusive and quality higher education is accessible to everyone, including those from countries that are facing major challenges.

“The University of Mataram is ready to help you continue your education. An international education, an undergraduate degree that will help you continue your pursuit of achievement during difficult times. We are happy that we can provide this chance for you. You have come to the right place,” said the 10th Rector of Unram.

The Myanmar students will study for 2 years and most of them will join the Bachelor of English Education and Biology Education programmes, while some others will join the Faculty of Economics and Business, Faculty of Animal Science, and Faculty of Engineering. For now, the learning process will be conducted online. However, Unram remains committed to providing the best educational experience for these 22 Myanmar students.

In his closing remarks, the Rector of Unram invited the Myanmar students to feel as a part of the Unram community and be confident that they will reach great achievements during their studies at Unram.

“Now you are part of our community, and we believe you will achieve great things during your time as a student here. We look forward to supporting you every step of the way. So, welcome aboard,” Prof. Bambang concluded.

The presence of these 22 international students reinforces Unram’s commitment to supporting global education, providing opportunities for students from various countries to pursue their dreams, and contributing positively to Unram’s academic community.
