8 Unram Taekwondo Students Won 7 Gold Medals and 2 Silver Medals

Mataram, University of Mataram – 8 students of University of Mataram Taekwondo won 7 gold medals and 2 silver medals at the National Taekwondo Championship Region VI and Open Bali Championship which were held on July 7-9, 2023 at GOR Widya Sabha Udayana University, Bali.

Here are the name of the students:

  1. Triya Kurnia (Accounting Study Program) 1st place in the senior individual poomsae category and 1st place in the women’s senior kyourugi under 49kg
  2. Iko Sabrina Febriyanti (Management Study Program) 1st place in women’s senior kyourugi under 53kg
  3. Rizka Dwi Puspitasari (Animal Husbandry Study Program) won 2nd place under 57kg
  4. Then Risang Giri Anggara (English Study Program) won 2nd place in men’s kyourugi under 68kg
  5. Lalu Fikri Azani (English Departmnet) 1st place in men’s senior poomsae
  6. Ghaldhie Marlodian Rubay 1st place senior men’s under 58kg
  7. Septiana Prayanti (Food Science and Technology Study Program) 1st place in women’s senior kyourugi under 49kg
  8. Maman Firmansyah (Civil Engineering Study Program) 1st place in men’s senior kyourugi under 54kg

The national championship event was attended by 1,068 athletes in Region VI consisting of Bali, NTB, NTT, Maluku, North Maluku, and Papua.

The supervisor of Taekwondo, Agustono Setiawan, S.T., M.Sc. also gave appreciation to his assisted students who managed to bring home 9 medals.

“This Taekwondo student activity unit with its independence tries to train themselves to excel, even though it is fairly minimal with training tools, they have the spirit to be able to excel,” explained Agustono.

The Vice Dean 3 of Faculty of Engineering Unram also believes that, the other students must have potential. “Explore the potential deeply,  practice it, and try to achieve an achievements with that potential. I guess no one can’t  if we want to try and pray. Surely, all these achievements can be achieved, “he concluded.
