Get to Know 3 Unram Affirmation Students, Carried the Vision of Advancing Central Papua
Mataram, University of Mataram – University of Mataram held an Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) Mandiri Selection Pathway for 4 days from 6-9 August 2023 at the M. Yusuf Abubakar Auditorium, Unram.
Of the more than 3,000 participants through the Mandiri selection pathway, there were new students who were accepted through the Affirmation scholarship pathway. They are Veronika, Indri, and Martinus, 3 Affirmation students from Central Papua who want to share their stories.
Veronika Goo from Nabire, Central Papua shared her story that even though she failed to realize her dream as a policewoman, she didn’t give up. He still continues his dream to study in college.
“At that time I was late registering for Policewomen, but I registered at Unram and thank God I got an Affirmation scholarship at Unram. I am grateful to be in Unram, because the people are kind and friendly,” said Veronika.
Veronika’s parents also gave her full support, “My parents are very happy that I was accepted at Unram. But just a few days in Lombok it feels different, because it’s far from family so it feels lonely. But over the time you will get used to it,” she explained.
The new student of the Sociology Study Program dreams of becoming a high school teacher. He also mentioned that he wanted to make his parents proud and bring change to her area.
“My hope is to build Central Papua to be better, safe, prosperous and joyful,” said Veronika.
In addition, Indri Marlina Sawias, who also comes from Nabire, Central Papua, was accepted into the Accounting Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business. For her, Unram is the best campus in NTB and he has long dreamed of studying at Unram.
“I chose Unram because I felt that Unram was a university that could develop my talents and could be a place for me to gain knowledge,” she said.
The student who dreams of becoming an accountant hopes that in the future she can be responsible for her choices at Unram by completing her studies as well as possible to achieve her goals. Indri also wants to be one of the people who can be the pride of Central Papua Province.
As for Martinus Masai from Deiyai, Central Papua. He was accepted at the PPKN Study Program, Faculty of Teaching and Education Sciences.
“Thank God I was accepted at Unram and I chose the PPKN study program because I wanted to study the history and origins of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. And I’m sure by studying at Unram I will definitely get enough knowledge, “explained Martinus who dreams of becoming a PPKN teacher.
Martinus said that in Deiyai there are still not enough high-rise buildings and there are still many forests, unlike in Lombok. However, Martinus admited that the educational facilities in his area are quite good and of course Martinus also wants to improve his hometown, in Deiyai, Central Papua.
The three Affirmation students share the same vision, namely to develop their hometown of Central Papua Province.
