The General Lecturer by Collegium Civitas Polandia Talk about Intercultural Communication
Mataram, the University of Mataram – The Office of International Affairs of the University of Mataram and the International Relations Study Program collaborated to invited Pawel Maranowski, Ph.D. from Collegium Civitas, Poland as a resource person in a public lecture that held on Monday (21/8) afternoon in the Senate Meeting Room, Unram Rectorate.
Pawel Maranowski, Ph.D. is the Vice Rector of Student Affairs Collegium Civitas, Poland. His arrival at Unram was greeted enthusiastically by the academic community and Unram students. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sood, S.H., M.H. as Head of International Relations Study Program expressed his appreciation for Pawel’s arrival at Unram.
In his speech, Prof. Sood, explained that although the International Relations Study Program is relatively new, the International Relations Study Program has carried out many activities in the fields of education, research, community service, and collaboration on a national and international scale.
“We have sent lecturers to participate in international seminars and conferences, and sent students in international internship programs to Malaysia and Thailand, and there are student exchange programs in the United Kingdom, England. Currently, there are 6 alumni of the International Relations Study Program who are continuing their studies in Poland (Warsaw and Torun),” explained Prof. Sood.
The Head of International Relations Study Program hopes that through the public lecture held by his study program with OIA, it can be useful to increase knowledge and insight in developing International Relations and Unram Study Programs.
“We hope that this collaboration in the future will continue to develop education specifically in Unram,” he concluded.
In this public lecture, Mr. Pawel presented material on “Intercultural Communication”. He explained that culture is a set of patterns of behavior, beliefs, institutions, values, and other symbolic meanings that are passed from one generation to the next with a particular community.
“Intercultural communication is important for us to explore because every day we must do intercultural communication where intercultural communication refers to the exchange of information and understanding between individuals or groups from different cultural backgrounds,” explained Mr. Pawel.
The public lecture was actively attended by Unram students and lasted until the afternoon
