The Chairman of the Judicial Commission of the Republic of Indonesia Provided a Scientific Oration at the Unram 61st Anniversary in Senate Open Meeting
Mataram, the University of Mataram– the University of Mataram (Unram) invited the Chairman of the Judicial Commission (KY) of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Amzulian Rifai, S.H., LLM., Ph.D. to give a scientific oration at the Unram 61st Anniversary Senate Open Meeting in the Senate Meeting Room, Unram Rectorate on Tuesday (10/10). This activity was also attended by the Governor of West Nusa Tenggara, the Rector, the Vice Rector and Secretary of the Senate, as well as Unram leadership.
In this agenda, the Unram Senate Open Meeting held the theme ” the Collaboration between Universities and Industry in the Development of Superior Resources Towards Unram Internationalization” and this agenda was held offline and online via the Unram YouTube channel.
This event was opened by Prof. Dr. Agil Al Idrus, M.Sc. as Chairman of the Unram Senate and it followed by a speech by the Rector of Unram, Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D. which mentions the achievements that Unram has achieved, one of which is that Unram has succeeded in being ranked 15th in the best universities in Indonesia according to the SCImago Institutions Ranking.
“The spirit of working together, collaborating, running fast so that Unram can become a world class university. We continue to beautify Unram and one by one our study programs are accredited as superior. We want to create graduate job creators or job creators. “Therefore, through this Dies Natalis momentum, we want to increase our competitiveness by collaborating between universities, industry and the government,” said Prof. Bambang.
Apart from that, the Governor of West Nusa Tenggara, Drs. H. Lalu Gita Ariyadi, M.Sc. or who is familiarly called Miq Gita, also invited the Unram academic community to reflect on the progress and successes that Unram has currently achieved in the field of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, namely education, research and community service.
“We hope that in the future Unram will continue to take steps to improve the superior quality of accreditation, so that Unram becomes a beautiful choice and charm, so that, the outsiders are interested in studying in West Nusa Tenggara. “Moreover, the concept of studying while traveling,” explained Miq Gita.
Miq Gita also hopes that the results of the scientific research work of Unram Professors can be synergized with the government in developing the West Nusa Tenggara Province.
The main event of the Unram Senate Open Meeting was the delivery of a scientific oration by the Chairman of the KY of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Amzulian Rifai, S.H., LLM., Ph.D. He delivered his oration entitled “Collaboration between Universities and Industry in the Development of Superior Resources Towards Internationalization”.
Prof. Amzulian explained that Indonesia is the country with the largest workforce in ASEAN with more than 140 million people in 2021. However, Indonesia also has quite a large unemployment rate. The unemployment rate in Indonesia will reach 3.55 in 2022 and ranks 4th in ASEAN.
The Indonesian Development Index in ASEAN in 2019 was in position 107, where Indonesia is still included in the middle income countries. Facing this phenomenon, the Chairman of the KY of the Republic of Indonesia said that it was necessary to revitalize the curriculum and learning methods that were able to respond to global needs, in addition to strengthening basic abilities.
“We can apply several important recommendations from this study, such as applying student-lead education (learning focused on teaching participants), one of which is by including leadership teaching material into the curriculum. “Then, include service learning material in the curriculum in the form of experience-based learning to answer the common needs of humanity,” explained Prof. Amzulian.
He also added that as a response to internationalization and regionalization, universities need to encourage increased foreign language skills, as well as professional development for students and teaching or academic staff. Lastly, the Chairman of the KY of the Republic of Indonesia wants digital transformation to continue to be developed because it is something that cannot be avoided in advancing education and other fields.
This Senate Open Meeting was also accompanied by giving awards to lecturers who had completed their education in the Doctoral Program. The award was given by the Rector of Unram to Unram lecturers
