LPPM Unram and PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara Establish Research Cooperation for Fisheries and Environmental Innovation
Mataram, University of Mataram– On Friday, October 18, 2024 the Research and Community Service Institute of the University of Mataram (LPPM Unram) received a visit from PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara in the LPPM Unram Conference Room.
In this activity, the Head of LPPM Unram Prof. Dr. Ir. Sukartono, M.Agr. who was accompanied by the Secretary of LPPM Unram Prof. Dr. Ir. I Gusti Putu Muliarta Aryana, MP. and Dr. Ir. Misbahuddin, ST., MT.IPU as Head of the Center for Cooperation and Community Service (KKN) LPPM Unram and researchers in the field of fisheries and marine, and Agus Setianto and his staff from PT. Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara.
In his remarks, the Head of LPPM Unram, Prof. Dr. Ir. Sukartono, M.Agr. stated that this visit was a form of meaningful friendship between Unram and PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara. He emphasized that a good relationship between the academic world and industry is important to encourage the development of science and technology, as well as to overcome various challenges faced by society. Prof. Sukartono also expressed his hope that this gathering will pave the way for closer and more productive collaboration, where both parties can share knowledge, experience, and resources.
Prof. Sukartono added that with a strong synergy, it is expected that various initiatives and programs will emerge that will not only benefit both institutions, but also the wider community. Prof. Sukartono underlined the importance of collaboration in research and community service that can improve the quality of life of local communities, as well as strengthen conservation and management of natural resources.
As part of this meeting, LPPM Unram and PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on fisheries surveys in the waters around East Lombok Regency and West Sumbawa Regency. This cooperation aims to improve understanding of the condition of aquatic ecosystems in the area and to support conservation efforts and sustainable management of fisheries resources.
In the context of this survey, it is expected to obtain accurate data on fish populations, ecosystem health, seawater quality and the impact of human activities on waters. The results of this survey will form the basis for further research and the development of programs that support the sustainability of fisheries resources.
Through this collaboration, both parties can support each other in research and community service, and make a positive contribution to the development of the region and local communities. This activity is a significant first step in establishing a closer relationship between academia and industry for mutual development.
