Mataram, University of Mataram – The Rector of the University of Mataram (Unram), Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D., inaugurated six permanent professors of Unram in the Senate Conference Room of the Unram Rectorate, on Wednesday (20/11). This inauguration is an important part of Unram’s efforts to improve the quality of research to transform into a World Class University.

Prof. Bambang in his speech congratulated the six newly inaugurated permanent professors and conveyed the importance of the role of professors to achieve university strategic programs and improve academic reputation.

“Currently Unram is always striving to achieve four main programs, including superior accreditation, increasing Main Performance Indicators (IKU), heading towards World Class University, and becoming a State University with Legal Status (PTN-BH), so the role of professors is crucial to realize these four main programs,” said Prof. Bambang in his speech.

The event was filled with scientific orations delivered by the six permanent professors with various research focuses in various fields. The scientific orations bring hope for Unram to be able to contribute in conducting major research both on a national and international scale as a research university.

The six professors inaugurated in this event are:

1. Prof. Dr. Dra. Tri Mulyaningsih, M.Si. Permanent Professor of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Unram, with the Scientific Oration Title: “The Role of Biological Resources in Green Economy Development: Strategies for Ex Situ Production and Conservation of Agarwood Trees in West Nusa Tenggara”.
2. Prof. Dr. Drs. H. Syafruddin, MS. Permanent Professor of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education Unram, with Scientific Oration Title: “Gender Mainstreaming and Increasing Educational Participation in Disadvantaged Women’s Communities in Nusa Tenggara Province”
3. Prof. Dr. Hailuddin, SE, MP. Permanent Professor of the Faculty of Economics and Business Unram, with Scientific Oration Title: “Revitalization of Local Potential in Efforts to Develop Rural Tourism Areas in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara”
4. Prof. Dr. Abdul Azis Bagis, MSIE. Permanent Professor of the Faculty of Economics and Business Unram, with the title of Scientific Oration: “Development of Indonesian Student Entrepreneurship Based on Human Capabilities Towards the Formation of Virtual Capital.
5. Prof. Ir. Ni Nyoman Kencanawati, ST., MT., Ph.D. IPM. Permanent Professor of the Faculty of Engineering Unram, with the Scientific Oration Title: “Non-destructive Testing of Concrete and its Application in Civil Engineering Research”.
6. Prof. Dr. Ir. Ruth Stella Petrunella Thei, MS. Permanent Professor of the Faculty of Agriculture Unram, with the Scientific Oration Title: “Building Natural Balance: Sustainable Pest Management Strategies in Agroecosystems”.

The presence of permanent professors with various fields of knowledge is expected to make a significant contribution to the development of science and inspire the younger generation to continue to innovate and excel. With the increasing number of qualified professors, Unram is optimistic that it will become a World Class University that is superior and globally competitive.
