Mataram, University of Mataram – The Academic Support Unit for Counseling and Career Guidance (UPA BKPK) of the University of Mataram (Unram) held an inspirational webinar entitled “Stepping on International Career through Internship” on Thursday, November 28, 2024 through Zoom Meeting. This activity aims to provide insight into international career opportunities through internship programs that can open up ways for students to develop themselves at the global level.
This webinar presented Joshua Jerico Ferido, Growth and Partnership Executive from Skilio, as the main speaker. In his presentation, Joshua shared knowledge about international internship opportunities that can be accessed through the Skilio platform, which connects students with global companies.
According to Joshua, international internships are not only an opportunity to gain work experience, but also a strategic step to build a professional network and increase competitiveness in the global job market. Joshua says internships through Skilio are essential for enriching professional horizons, honing skills, and unlocking career opportunities. This internship program allows students to learn directly from large companies and add value to their portfolios.
Meanwhile, in his speech, the Head of UPA BKPK Unram, apt. Yoga Dwi Saputra, S.Farm., M.Pharm.Sci., expressed his appreciation for the high enthusiasm of the webinar participants. This webinar also presented Sri Rezeki Amelia (Amel), a 7th semester student of Communication Science at Unram, who shared her international internship experience. Amel shared how interning at an overseas company gave her lots of benefits, including expanding her professional network and learning about working in a multicultural environment.
Despite facing challenges such as language barriers and cultural differences, she found this experience very valuable. In addition, Amel said that through her paid internship overseas, she earned a salary that exceeded Lombok’s minimum wage and made her financially independent without relying on her parents for her tuition fees and personal needs. This is a special satisfaction for her.
This webinar provided numerous important insights on how to utilize international internship opportunities to build a successful career. The participants were also given knowledge and tips on exploring their potential, information related to internship opportunities, and fee waiver scholarships provided by Skilio to take part in internship programs provided on its platform.
This activity is a concrete step from Unram to support students and alumni in developing their careers at the international level. With the increasing number of global internship opportunities available, UPA BKPK is committed to continue assisting students in achieving their career success in a competitive global market.
