The Development Direction of ICMI NTB: UNRAM Rector Shares Thoughts in ICMI Silaknas 2024

Mataram, University of Mataram – In the National Gathering (Silaknas) of the Indonesian Association of Muslim Intellectuals (ICMI) which took place in Bogor, West Java on December 14, 2024, the Rector of the University of Mataram (Unram) as well as the Head of ICMI Regional Office of West Nusa Tenggara for the 2023-2028 Period, Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D. conveyed the direction of ICMI development in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) in front of the ICMI Central board, all ICMI administrators from various regions in Indonesia and overseas ICMI representatives.

In his presentation, Prof. Bambang explained the great potential of NTB in education, economy, and technology that needs to be maximized. The Rector of Unram revealed that ICMI in NTB must act as a catalyst in improving the quality of human resources (HR) based on science and moderate Islamic values.

“In NTB, the development of ICMI focuses on strengthening collaboration between the academic world, government, and society. Unram as a higher education institution is ready to support ICMI in creating programs that support the development of local human resources, both in the fields of education, research, and community service,” said Prof. Bambang.

In the presentation, Prof. Bambang also proposed several concrete steps, including the use of digital technology in education, increasing research that is relevant to regional needs, and developing creative economic areas based on local wisdom. According to Prof. Bambang, ICMI NTB must be a pioneer in introducing innovations that have a direct impact on the welfare of the community.

“The development of ICMI in NTB must focus on creating an ecosystem that supports the achievement of superior and competitive human resources (HR). By utilizing the academic strength of universities such as Unram, as well as the support of ICMI, we believe NTB can become one of the successful development models,” said Prof. Bambang.

Prof. Bambang also emphasized the importance of building a strong network among ICMI boards throughout Indonesia and overseas. Collaboration between regions and countries, according to Prof. Bambang, will have a positive impact in accelerating the implementation of more targeted and sustainable human resource development programs.

As one of the figures entrusted to lead ICMI Orwil NTB, Prof. Bambang emphasized that the journey of developing human resources and regional potential in NTB requires synergy and strong commitment from all parties.

With a directed vision, concrete steps, and a spirit of collaboration, ICMI NTB is determined to become a locomotive of change that not only elevates the quality of local human resources, but also makes a real contribution to national development.
