Accelerating the Vision of Excellence and Global Competitiveness: Unram Focuses on International Research and Service

Mataram, University of Mataram – The Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM) of the University of Mataram (Unram) continues the commitment to improve the quality of research and community service as part of efforts to achieve its vision as a superior and internationally competitive university. In order to support this, LPPM Unram held an event to submit the results of the review of research and community service proposals that had gone through a rigorous evaluation process by academic reviewers on Thursday, February 20, 2025.

The event, which took place in the Main Conference Room of LPPM Unram, was attended by the Head of LPPM Unram, Prof. Dr. Ir. Sukartono, M.Agr. accompanied by the Secretary of LPPM, Prof. Dr. Ir. I Gusti Putu Muliarta Aryana, MP.; Head of Research Center, Prof. Ir. Buan Anshari, ST.., M.Sc.(Eng), Ph.D., IPM; Head of Service Center, Dr. Ni Wayan Sri Suliartini, SP, MP; and Head of General Subdivision, Roni Paslan, S.Adm. Also attended by Deans, Deputy Deans, and Deputy Director of Postgraduate Program in Unram.

In his speech, the Head of LPPM Unram, Prof. Sukartono, emphasized the importance of quality research as the foundation for innovation and real contribution to society.

“The review of research and community service proposals is not just an evaluation, but also a strategic effort to ensure that every research conducted at Unram has a wide impact, both academically and socially,” he said.

The professor of the Faculty of Agriculture said that the review process was carried out by paying attention to aspects of novelty, relevance, and contribution to the development of science and community needs.

“We try to ensure that every proposal that passes the selection truly has great potential in supporting the advancement of science and providing benefits to the community, as well as accelerating the achievement of Unram’s vision of becoming a World Class University,” he said.

Some of the research that received high appreciation in this review covered various fields, such as agriculture, health, environment, and community economic empowerment. Researchers who get revision notes are expected to immediately make improvements according to the reviewer’s input so that their research is of higher quality and ready to be implemented.

On the other hand, the Secretary of LPPM, Prof. I Gusti Putu Muliarta Aryana, detailed that, “Currently, the total funding for research and service has exceeded 20 billion rupiah. With the new policy implemented by the Rector of Unram through the opening of the International Cooperation Scheme, it is hoped that this additional scheme and funding can improve the quality of research at Unram. In addition, this initiative also aims to accelerate the achievement of Unram’s vision as a superior and globally competitive university through strengthening international relations.”

With this review process, Unram hopes to further strengthen an innovative and collaborative academic ecosystem, as well as increase scientific publications and the application of research results with global impact. This effort is expected to accelerate the achievement of Unram’s vision as a superior higher education institution that is competitive at the international level.
