Mataram, University of Mataram – University of Mataram (Unram) continues to strive to improve the quality of education that is globally competitive by conducting a Workshop on the Formulation of International Class Academic Guidelines on Thursday, February 27, 2025. The event took place in the Senate Conference Room, Unram Rectorate, which aims to formulate technical guidelines for the implementation of degree and non-degree programs at Unram in line with International Education Standards (SPI) and university regulations.

Team Leader of the International Learning Center, Ahmad Junaidi, Ph.D., in his report said that this workshop did not only focus on the presentation of material on the implementation of international classes, but also aimed to formulate a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) that would be a reference for all related parties. He emphasized that administration order is the main foundation in the formulation of effective academic guidelines.

The Head of Unram’s Quality Assurance and Learning Development Institute (LPMPP), Dr. Ir. Sitti Latifah, M.For.Sc., in her speech highlighted the main challenge in conducting international classes, the low student mobilization. She hopes that the presence of international classes can accelerate the exchange of Unram students to the global arena, as well as attract international students to study at Unram.

“Today we are drafting guidelines that will not only help organize international classes, but also a wider range of other international programs,” she said.

The workshop was divided into two sessions. The first session presented a resource person from the Directorate of International Education of IPB University, Puji Mudiana, S.P., M.A., who explained the best practice of implementing international classes, including strategies, concepts, and efforts to build networks. The second session was filled with Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) that focused on the preparation of regulations and draft international class documents.

During the event, the discussion was active with interactive question and answer sessions. Through this workshop, Unram emphasized its commitment to improving global competitiveness through quality international education. The resulting guidelines are expected to be a reference for study programs and faculties in executing international classes in a structured and sustainable manner.
