50th Doctor Oath Taking Ceremony, FKIK Unram Inaugurates 62 New Doctors ‌

Mataram, University of Mataram – The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Mataram (FKIK Unram) held the 50th Doctor Inauguration and Oath Taking Ceremony on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at Lombok Raya Hotel. This event is an important moment for graduates of FKIK Unram who will officially hold the doctor’s title and are ready to devote themselves to the world of health.

The ceremony began with a report from the Vice Dean 1 of FKIK Unram, represented by the Head of the FKIK Unram Medical Department, Dr. dr. Ardiana Ekawanti, M.Kes. In her report, it was mentioned that there were 62 new doctors who would take their oath, consisting of 22 men and 40 women.

They have carried out young doctor education at the main teaching hospital for FKIK, namely the NTB Provincial Hospital and other network hospitals such as Mutiara Sukma Mental Hospital, Praya Regional Hospital, Tripat Gerung Regional Hospital, and several health centers in the West Lombok Regency area.

These new doctors have passed the Competency Test for Students of the Doctor Professional Program (UKMPPD) for the May 2024 period, with 59 people being first takers who immediately passed the first exam. Where the first taker pass rate reached 98.3% above the national standard and 4 retakers also passed.

“The new doctors who will take the oath today will complete the number of doctors who graduated from FKIK Unram with a total of 912 people. The new doctors who will take their oath today are obliged to follow internships in regional hospitals and health centers all over Indonesia. Congratulations and hopefully new fellow doctors will be given convenience in their new place of duty, “said Dr. Ardiana.

The doctor’s oath-taking ceremony was officiated by the Dean of FKIK Unram, Dr. dr. Arfi Syamsun Sp.KF., M.Si.Med. In this solemn procession, the new doctors took the oath and signed the script of the doctor’s oath, marking their commitment to carry out their duties and responsibilities as medical personnel with high integrity and professionalism.

The event then continued with remarks from the Rector of Unram, Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D. In his remarks, the Rector of Unram congratulated the new doctors and emphasized the importance of dedication and devotion in the medical profession. He also said that these new doctors are an asset to the nation that will help improve the level of public health.

“Of course, these new doctors are assets of the nation because you are part of those who will help this nation to improve the health of our people, in the middle of the increasing conditions of our society,” he said.

Prof. Bambang also promoted that anyone from any background can get a medical education at Unram. “Unram since 2022 has opened a path for poor achievers for Mandiri selection, so those who are not in a good financial condition can study at FKIK Unram without paying zero rupiah. The chain of poverty must be cut, one way is through education. Therefore, Unram not only opens access to education for the underprivileged, but also ensures that they receive high-quality education, “said Prof. Bambang.

He also emphasized the importance of maintaining the good name of the alma mater and continue to work diligently. “Keep the good name of the alma mater, work diligently wherever you are. Remember that you doctors will not be separated from the alma mater, because once you are declared a doctor, the good name of FKIK and Unram must be maintained,” added Prof. Bambang.

The Rector of Unram also highlighted the development of Specialist Doctor Education Programs (PPDS) that have been opened at FKIK Unram, including PPDS Obgyn, PPDS Surgery, PPDS Pulmonology, PPDS Neurology, and PPDS Marine Medicine. In addition, three new study programs will be developed, including Anesthesia, ENT, and Pediatrician.

Dean of FKIK Unram, Dr. dr. Arfi Syamsun Sp.KF., M.Si.Med. in his speech, motivated the graduates to continue to contribute in improving the quality of health services, both at the local and national levels. He also emphasized the importance of interprofessional cooperation and collaboration in facing increasingly complex health challenges.

With the inauguration of these new doctors, it is hoped that they can make a positive contribution in improving community health status and bring the good name of FKIK Unram and the University of Mataram in the medical field.
