Cendrawasih University Benchmark to Unram Discussing MBKM Implementation and Management of SKPI
Mataram, University of Mataram – On Thursday, September 26, 2024, the academic team of the Cendrawasih University (Uncen) conducted benchmarking activities at the University of Mataram (Unram) and this meeting took place in the Rector’s Conference Room, Unram Rectorate.
This benchmarking discusses several matters concerning the writing of other skills of graduates in the Certificate of Accompanying Diplomas (SKPI), the distribution of curriculum courses containing Independent Learning Independent Campus (MBKM), and the implementation of independent MBKM.
The Head of the Bureau of Academic and Student Affairs of Unram, Dwi Siswanto, S.Kom., MM, warmly welcomed the arrival of Uncen’s group. In his speech, he explained in detail about the implementation of MBKM at Unram.
“We at the University of Mataram continue to optimally implement MBKM, including through internship programs, student exchanges, and village projects integrated in the curriculum. We also strengthen the implementation of independent MBKM by collaborating with more industry partners, educational institutions, and local governments. These steps are taken to ensure students have broad and diverse access to MBKM, so that Unram graduates are ready to compete in the global job market,” said Dwi Siswanto.
The Head of the Bureau of Academic and Student Affairs of Unram explained that Unram’s main focus in implementing MBKM is to provide the most beneficial learning experience for students.
“Of course, we prioritize the interests of students,” he said.
In addition, Dwi Siswanto added that related to academic management, the writing of other skills of graduates is already contained in the academic transcript along with the value, so it no longer needs to be included in the SKPI. This is expected to increase efficiency in the administration process and ensure that the information provided to graduates is more focused.
Bambang P as the Head of Uncen’s Academic and Student Administration Bureau greatly appreciated the welcome from Unram. He stated that this benchmarking provided many new insights that Uncen could adopt to improve the quality of education and academic services at the university.
“We really appreciate the warm welcome from Unram. This knowledge exchange is very valuable for us in an effort to improve academic quality at Uncen, especially in the implementation of MBKM and SKPI management,” said Bambang.
This activity was also attended by Dr. Edy Herianto, M.Ed. as Secretary of the Unram Quality Assurance and Education Development Institute (LPMPP) as well as Vice Secretary of UP MBKM-IKU Unram and Director of Unram Postgraduate Program, Prof. Dr. Aliefman Hakim, M.Si. who is also the Secretary of UP MBKM-IKU.
They also explained how UP MBKM-IKU was formed and explained the strategic role of this unit in supporting the implementation of the MBKM program at Unram. Dr. Edy explained that UP MBKM-IKU was formed in response to the need to strengthen the implementation of the MBKM policy within Unram. This unit functions as a coordination and monitoring center, ensuring that all MBKM activities run according to the standards and targets set by the university.
This benchmarking activity ended with a constructive discussion between the two universities, with the hope that both universities can strengthen each other’s best practices in the implementation of MBKM and other academic management.
