Mataram, University of Mataram – The Communication Science Study Program of University of Mataram sent two representatives of the Communication Science Student Association (HIMIKOM) of University of Mataram (UNRAM) to take part in the 2023 Communication Awards in Yogyakarta. It held in June 24-25, 2023. Those students were Muhammad Firdaus Julianda Putra and Muhammad Trisna Umami. They attended the Meet and Discuss at Porta Hotel and Awarding Night at the Monument of Serangan Umum 1 Maret Yogyakarta

In the Awarding Night, HIMIKOM UNRAM became three best winners in the Gadget Film Festival. The masterpiece made by HIMIKOM entitled THRASHED became the best film in three categories, namely best cinematography, best story idea, and best editing. “Brought three champions,” Whatsapps massages from HIMIKOM UNRAM representative, Firdaus, June 25, 2023.

The Communication Awards 2023 is organized by the Communication Science Student Corps (KOMAKOM) of the University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. This activity was attended by students from various universities such as UI, UNPAD, UAD, UNY, and others. There were five works that made into the finalists of the gadget film festival before HIMIKOM UNRAM’s work was determined as the best film for three categories. The other four finalists were Keglutsan Berujung Damage belonging to the students of Universitas Amikom Purwokerto, Paradox belonging to the students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, Seenoughnya and The Gluttonous King belonging to the  students of Petra Christian University.

The success of HIMIKOM UNRAM students in winning three prestigious champions in Yogyakarta was welcomed by the Head of Communication Science Study Program of the University of Mataram, Dr. Agus Purbathin Hadi, M.Si. “We will provide incentives to these champions,” he said. He also encouraged more HIMIKOM students to participate in competitions both at national and international level.

According to his opinion, the Communication Science study program of University of Mataram has allocated adequate insentive fund for outstanding student. The source of the fund comes from PKKM 2023 (Independent Campus Competition Program) that is the fund from DIKTI and university matching funds. The provision of incentive fund aims to make students more motivated to achieve more accomplishment.
