“Of course, after completing my apprenticeship, I began to focus on preparing for the Medical Professional Education Student Competency Examination. I started from participating in online and offline learning which it was provided by the campus and then, of course, almost every day from the morning to the night studying the exam material, approximately about 5 months for exam preparation after apprenticeship. The exam is on May, so from January to May study continuously”. Dewi explained.
Dewi also said that she was very lucky to be able to study at University of Mataram, because all the lecturers really embrace their students and teach with patience, especially during the professional stage, so, the students have the opportunity to get varied cases.
“We also had the opportunity to be directly taught by the expert, specialist doctors in the hospital directly and closely. We are guided in trying to take measures, so the experience is very good,” said the 23-year-old new doctor.
Throughout her education, Dewi’s most memorable experience was when she met and interacted with patients in the hospital.
“Many stories from the patients are also touching. In general, I think every day I meet them, and seeing their condition, they are healed and can go home, it gives us happiness if we can play a role in their recovery. Even though it is very small for a apprenticeship, but in my opinion it is still very valuable,” he said.
Despite successfully graduating and being sworn in as a new doctor, Dewi still experienced difficulties in her studies. She felt this difficulty when she had to recap the knowledge that she had learned for years as well as the competencies of general practitioners.
“If you say it’s difficult, it’s quite difficult, but yes, thankfully, I and my friends are all her, thanks to the support of the faculty, teaching assistance and access to medical equipment skills, we can complete our studies well,” said Dewi, who also aspires to continue her studies to the specialist level.
To the all students of Faculty of Medicine Unram, she advised to always be excited, “surely we can also pass this phase and when the time comes it will feel very beautiful and become a pride in itself.”
Dewi hopes that faculty of Madicine Unram in the future will be more advanced, more known to the public, even it has now also begun to evolved into specialist education.
“Hopefully, there will be more opportunities for doctors to continue their education at Unram and so that more doctors will be produced and can be evenly distributed throughout Indonesia,” he concluded.
