Mataram, University of Mataram – The Faculty of Law, University of Mataram (FH Unram) held a public lecture by presenting a guest speaker, the Chairman of the Ombudsman RI, Mokhammad Najih. The activity took place in the Main Session Room of FH Unram, on Friday (11/17).

The event was officially opened by the Rector of Unram, Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D. In his speech, Prof. Bambang appreciated FH Unram for bringing in a very special guest, the Chairman of Ombudsman RI. He conveyed a message to all students to always maintain unity and integrity and still pay attention to legal, regulatory, ethical and moral corridors in delivering criticism.

“My message is regardless of the hustle and bustle that occurs, please maintain unity and integrity. Please criticize anything, but it must remain within the corridors of law, regulations, ethics and morals,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Indonesian Ombudsman, Mokhammad Najih in his presentation presented the discussion topic on “Ombudsman and Improving Access to Public Complaint Services”.

He explained the history of the establishment of the Ombudsman, provided an understanding of administrative malpractice, the supervision process in the implementation of public services and the powers of the Ombudsman.

“The Ombudsman in examining reports does not only prioritize the authority that is coercive but the Ombudsman is required to prioritize a persuasive approach to the parties so that state and government officials have their own awareness to resolve reports on alleged maladministration in the implementation of public services,” he explained.

After the presentation, the activity continued with a discussion and question and answer session from the participants. The public lecture went smoothly and was attended by approximately 161 participants.
