FKIK Unram Inaugurates 11 New Doctors in 51st Doctor’s Oath Ceremony
Mataram, University of Mataram – The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Mataram (FKIK Unram) again inaugurates graduates of the doctor profession in the 51st Doctor Inauguration and Oath Taking Ceremony which took place on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at the Dr. dr. Yunita Sabrina Auditorium, FKIK Unram.
A total of 11 new doctors consisting of 5 women and 6 men were officially inaugurated and taken an oath as doctors after successfully passing the Competency Test for Students of the Doctor Professional Program (UKMPPD) for the August 2024 period.
The ceremony was attended by the Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation, and Information Systems of Unram, Prof. Akmaluddin, S.T., M.Sc. (Eng.), Ph.D., who represented the Rector of Unram. In addition, the Dean of FKIK Unram, Dr. dr. Arfi Syamsun, Sp.KF., M.Si.Med., along with the vice deans of FKIK Unram, Head of the NTB Provincial Health Office, Director of the NTB Provincial Hospital, Head of the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) of the NTB region, directors of FKIK Unram network hospitals, Head of Senate FKIK Unram, Head of POMA FKIK Unram, as well as parents and families of new doctors.
Coordinator of the FKIK Unram Doctor Professional Study Program, dr. Ika Primayanti, M.Kes said in her report that the number of FKIK Unram graduates until the 51st Inauguration was 923 people. The percentage of new doctor graduates from FKIK Unram in this period reached 73.3%.
“In line with the mandate of the medical practice law, new doctor colleagues are required to follow intensively in hospitals and health centers throughout Indonesia,” he said.
The doctor’s oath-taking was carried out directly by the Dean of FKIK Unram, Dr. dr. Arfi Syamsun, Sp.KF., M.Si.Med, followed by the signing of the doctor’s oath by the young doctors.
Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation, and Information Systems of Unram, Prof. Akmaluddin, S.T., M.Sc. (Eng.), Ph.D. in his speech said that FKIK Unram is one of the young faculties that shows its quality so that it becomes an example for other faculties where the medical study program is one of the most favorite and superior study programs.
“The uneven distribution of doctors is often a complaint from local governments. For this reason, Unram has collaborated with 2 local governments, including Central Lombok Regency and West Sumbawa Regency in providing scholarships for prospective doctor students who are expected to serve in the area of origin after graduation,” said Prof. Akmaluddin.
Dean of FKIK Unram, Dr. dr. Arfi Syamsun, Sp.KF., M.Si.Med., in his speech said that FKIK Unram alumni have now been well received by the community. Some graduates have worked as puskesmas doctors as the frontline, continued specialist studies, and 1/3 of the graduates have become specialists.
“The distribution of doctors is expected to spread to all regions in NTB and not settle in one city. Doctor graduates can also try scholarships provided by the Ministry of Health to serve in the 3T area. It is hoped that through this effort Unram graduates can help the government in strengthening the level of public health, “explained Dr. Arfi.
In addition, there were also remarks from the Director of the NTB Provincial Hospital represented by the Deputy Director of Services of the NTB Provincial Hospital, dr. Qomarul Islamiyati Sp.KJ and the Head of the IDI of NTB Region, Dr. dr. Rohadi, Sp.BS., Subsp N-Onk (K), M.H. (Kes.). Both of them hope that the new doctors can practice the knowledge gained, serve, and become doctors who provide the best service for the community.
Representative of new doctors of FKIK Unram, Dr. Elvika Aulia Fitroningtyas in her speech expressed her gratitude to the lecturers of FKIK Unram who always motivate and provide medical knowledge to become reliable doctors and thanks to the parents who always pray for the smooth passage of the studies.
“My beloved colleagues, today we all take an oath of commitment about togetherness in care, about welfare, and professional mandate. Today the official title of doctor accompanies our every step in society. Hopefully we can provide services and education to improve public health,” said Dr. Elvika.
The event was solemn and full of joy which ended with greetings from the invited guests to the new doctors. This inauguration increases the number of doctor graduates from FKIK Unram who are ready to contribute to improving health services in Indonesia, especially in West Nusa Tenggara Province.
