Inauguration of Six Permanent Professors of Unram: Commitment towards Innovation and Academic Excellence

Mataram, University of Mataram – The Rector of University of Mataram (Unram), Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D. officially inaugurated 6 (six) Permanent Professors of Unram on Friday (9/8) in the Senate Conference Room, Unram Rectorate.

The six permanent professors are Prof. Dr. Ir. M. Junaidi, M.Si.; Prof. Dr. Ir. Aliefman Hakim, S.Si., M.Si.; Prof. Dr. Nuriadi, S.S., M.Hum.; Prof. Dr. Ir. I Wayan Sudika, MS.; Prof. Ir. Muktasam, M.Agr.Sc., Ph.D.; and Prof. Ir. I Wayan Wangiyana, M.Sc.(Hons), Ph.D..

Prof. Dr. Ir. M. Junaidi, M.Si., from the Faculty of Agriculture, presented a scientific oration entitled “Sustainable Management of Lobster Cultivation to Support the Potential of Blue Food in Indonesia”. In his speech, Prof. Junaidi discussed the importance of sustainable management in lobster farming as an effort to increase the potential of seafood sources known as “Blue Food” in Indonesia. He emphasized the use of environmentally friendly technologies and ecosystem-based management strategies to ensure the sustainability and productivity of this fisheries sector.

From the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Prof. Dr. Ir. Aliefman Hakim, S.Si., M.Si. presented an oration entitled “Application of Pure Science in Education for Project-Based Natural Materials Chemistry Practicum for Secondary Metabolic Isolation”. Prof. Aliefman explained the application of chemistry in project-based practicum education, focusing on the isolation of secondary metabolites from natural materials. This method is expected to provide new insights in the development of natural products with added value and foster students’ practical and analytical skills in chemistry.

Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Nuriadi, S.S., M.Hum., also from FKIP, presented a scientific oration entitled “The Thought of Quaker Figures in Striving for Humanitarian Values ( HR ) in the United States: An Interdisciplinary Literary Review”. In his speech, Prof. Nuriadi reviewed the contribution of Quaker figures in the history of the United States human rights movement. He used an interdisciplinary literary approach to highlight how human values are struggled for through literature and social thought, illustrating how literature can be an important medium in expressing humanitarian issues.

Prof. Dr. Ir. I Wayan Sudika, M.S., from the Faculty of Agriculture, delivered his scientific oration entitled “Establishment of Superior Dryland Maize Varieties through Conventional Breeding”. In his speech, Prof. Sudika explained the results of his research in developing superior varieties of corn that are resistant to dryland conditions. Through conventional breeding, these varieties are expected to increase agricultural productivity in areas with water limitations, providing solutions to the challenges of food security in Indonesia.

Prof. Ir. Muktasam, M.Agr.Sc., Ph.D., also from the Faculty of Agriculture, delivered an oration titled “Position and Role of Agricultural Extension in Agribusiness System and Farmer Economic Improvement”. Prof. Muktasam emphasized the important role of agricultural extension in the agribusiness system to improve farmers’ economy. He discussed strategies for empowering farmers through education and training to increase farmers’ productivity and welfare. This oration highlighted the synergy between the government, educational institutions, and the community in advancing the agricultural sector.

Furthermore, Prof. Ir. I Wayan Wangiyana, M.Sc (Hons), Ph.D., from the Faculty of Agriculture, presented a scientific oration entitled “Rice Technology of Aerobic Irrigation System Intercropping with Legumes ( Rice SIA-TK) and Biofertilizer to Increase Rice Productivity and Fertility of Rice Fields”. Prof. Wangiyana introduced innovative technologies in rice cultivation with aerobic irrigation systems and intercropping techniques with legumes. This approach uses biological fertilizers to increase productivity.

The Rector of Unram, Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D. in his speech congratulated the six newly inaugurated permanent professors and emphasized the importance of their role in enhancing Unram’s academic reputation.

“Our professors continue to increase, today the number of professors at Unram is 99, of course the role of these professors is very significant, especially in publications. Unram has succeeded in showing its reputation through the work of professors and the academic community, therefore the professors work together with the local government to develop what you have done,” said Prof. Bambang.

Unram currently continues to encourage four main programs in order to equalize its position with advanced universities in Indonesia, as well as towards a superior and globally competitive university through the acceleration of superior accreditation, the Main Performance Indicator (IKU) achievement program, towards World Class University, and PTN-BH.
