LPPM Unram Conducts Workshop of Intellectual Property Rights
Mataram, University of Mataram – The Research and Community Service Institute of the University of Mataram (LPPM Unram) held an Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Workshop with the theme “Strengthening the Capacity of Researchers to Achieve Intellectual Property Certificates in Supporting the Achievement of Main Performance Indicators (IKU) 5 of the University of Mataram”. This workshop took place for two days from Thursday-Friday, November 23-24, 2023 at the Golden Palace Hotel Mataram and Postgraduate Building, University of Mataram.
The implementation of this workshop was attended directly by the Secretary of LPPM University of Mataram Prof. Dr. Ir. I Gusti Putu Muliarta Aryana, MP. accompanied by the Coordinator of Conference and IPR Prof. Drs. Aris Doyan, M.Si., Ph.D. and Chief Executive of the Activity Dr. Abdul Atsar, SH, MH.
Started the workshop activities Dr. Abdul Atsar, SH, MH. As the Chief Executive of the Workshop reported that “This workshop activity was attended by 41 participants consisting of students, lecturers and researchers at the University of Mataram held in two days, where the first day the researchers or lecturers received introductory material related to IPR and submission procedures. On the second day, coaching or IPR submission clinics will be conducted”.
He emphasized that through this activity, it is hoped that researchers and lecturers at the University of Mataram can obtain guaranteed IPR Certificates.
Intellectual property plays a significant role in fulfill the society’s needs. It is because almost all human needs in this modern century come from products born from human intellectual abilities in the fields of science and technology. Higher Education, in this case the University of Mataram, is an institution that is the basis of intellectual activity, therefore intellectual property management is an essential need that must be fulfilled to boost the achievement of the Main Performance Indicators (IKU) of Higher Education, especially IKU 5.
During the same occasion Prof. Dr. Ir. I Gusti Putu Muliarta Aryana, MP. In his remarks said that “In improving the intellectual property management of the University of Mataram through LPPM initiated the formation of an IPR center in line with its capacity and ability to facilitate IPR management”.
The Professor of Plant Breeding Science, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Mataram continued “Intellectual property can be a source of income and sustainable income for both inventors and institutions, in this case the University of Mataram. In addition as a source of sustainable income, IPR is also a booster of the achievement of the Main Performance Indicators of the University of Mataram, in this case IKU 5.
Higher education is one of the most important stakeholders that must be involved in the protection of intellectual property rights in Indonesia. Higher education institutions as academic institutions have a very important and crucial role in encouraging state innovation.
The speakers in this activity include: 1. Mrs. Ir. Erlina Susilawati from the Directorate General of IPR of the Republic of Indonesia with material on Patent Drafting, 2. Mr. Ignatius Mangantar Tua Silalahi, SH, MH. With material on Introduction to IPR Documents and 3. Mr. Prof. Dr. Ir. I Made Sudantha, MS. With material on Tips and Tricks for Granted Patents.
At the end of the activity session, the Conference and IPR Coordinator, Prof. Drs. Aris Doyan, M.Si. said “We hope that through this workshop, lecturers and researchers of the University of Mataram can obtain IPR Certificates and can boost the Performance Indicators of the University of Mataram.
