LPPM Unram Organizes Preparation of Publication Guidelines and Ethics

Mataram, University of Mataram – The Institute for Research and Community Service at the University of Mataram (LPPM Unram) held a workshop on the preparation of publication guidelines and ethics. This activity took place in the Main Conference Room of LPPM Unram on Tuesday, July 16, 2024.

On this occasion, the Head of LPPM, Prof. Dr. Ir. Sukartono, M.Agr. accompanied by the Head of the Center for Publications, Conferences and IPR, Prof. Drs. Aris Doyan, M.Si., Ph.D.; Head of the Research Center, Prof. Ir. Buan Anshari, ST.., M.Sc.(Eng), Ph.D.; Head of Center for Cooperation and Community Service (KKN), Dr. Ir. Misbahuddin, ST, MT, IPU; Head of Center for Quality Control, Data and Information, I Wayan Sudiarta, Ph.D.; Head of Center for Community Service, Dr. Ni Wayan Sri Suliartini, S.P., MP; and Head of General Subdivision, Roni Paslan, S.Adm.

This workshop aims to address the increasingly complex challenges in scientific publication practices, including issues of plagiarism, unauthorized authorship, and other unethical practices that threaten the integrity of academic research. This workshop is also a momentum to develop inter-institutional cooperation in an attempt to promote higher ethical standards in scientific publications. Collaboration between universities and research institutions is expected to strengthen the implementation of existing ethical guidelines and build a more transparent and moral academic culture.

In his remarks, the Head of LPPM, Prof. Dr. Ir. Sukartono, M.Agr, underlined Unram’s commitment in supporting global efforts to improve research integrity, and emphasized the importance of continuing to conduct education and training related to publication ethics to the entire academic community, especially those at Unram.

“The phenomenon of research ethics violations that exist lately has attracted public attention, especially among Indonesian academics, researchers, and scientists. Violations of research ethics can occur both in the process of conducting research and utilizing research results, and in various forms, such as; fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism, “said Prof. Sukartono.

Therefore, this workshop not only provided valuable insights but also created concrete steps to improve quality and ethical scientific publication practices. Unram hopes that the guidelines produced from this workshop will be a strong foundation to support the development of research with integrity in the future.
