Mataram, Universitas Mataram – The Research and Community Service Institute of Universitas Mataram (Unram), LPPM, held a workshop on the preparation of research and community engagement proposals for new faculty members. The workshop took place in the Senate Meeting Room at the Unram Rectorate on Thursday, October 12th.

The event was attended in person by Unram’s Rector, Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D., accompanied by the Chairman of LPPM, Prof. Dr. Ir. Sukartono, M.Agr. Also present were the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Siti Hilyana, M.Si.; LPPM Secretary, Prof. Dr. Ir. IGP Muliarta Aryana, M.P.; Research Coordinator, Prof. Ir. Buan Anshari, S.T., M.Sc.(Eng)., Ph.D.; Community Engagement Coordinator, Dr. Faturrahman, M.Si.; Collaboration and Community Service Coordinator, Dr. Ir. Misbahuddin, S.T., M.T., IPU.; and Data, Information, and Quality Coordinator, I Wayan Sudiarta, Ph.D. Additionally, 160 new faculty members from within Unram participated in the workshop.

In his address, the Chairman of LPPM, Prof. Dr. Ir. Sukartono, M.Agr., stated that this workshop, specifically designed for new faculty members, is the second of its kind in 2023. The workshop was seen as highly strategic in the effort to enhance research and community engagement performance. Unram’s Rector is committed to promoting the three pillars of higher education and has created a special scheme for new faculty members.

“This workshop is one of the steps towards improving the Key Performance Indicators (KPI) of Universitas Mataram and accelerating its transition from a State University Legal Entity (PTN-BLU) to a State University Legal Body (PTN-BH). Funding for this new faculty scheme is expected to yield outcomes beneficial to both the institution and the wider community. The hypothesis with this scheme is that there is a connection between improved research and community engagement performance. Thus, the Rector’s mandate of ‘One Lecture, One Year, One Publication’ can be achieved,” said Prof. Sukartono.

Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D., Unram’s Rector, explained in his address, “The obligation of you as lecturers to write or publish articles is unavoidable, conducting research and advancing knowledge is also unavoidable. Of course, before writing, there must be ideas. To develop these ideas, we have prepared ProQuest.”

“Publication is one of the ways we contribute to the advancement of knowledge. Publication is not just a requirement for promotion; it has a philosophy as an everlasting charity,” said Prof. Bambang, a Professor at the Faculty of Agriculture at Unram.

The workshop featured several speakers, including Prof. Dr. Ir. IGP Muliarta Aryana, M.P., who discussed the University of Mataram’s Research Master Plan, and Prof. Ir. Buan Anshari, S.T., M.Sc.(Eng)., Ph.D., who provided guidance on research execution.

Subsequently, Dr. Faturrahman, M.Si., discussed proposals for community engagement funded by Unram’s Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP); Dr. Ir. Misbahuddin, S.T., M.T., IPU. covered literature review and research roadmaps, while I Wayan Sudiarta, Ph.D., addressed research ethics.
