Mataram Universitry released 1.494 Students for Community Service Program
Mataram, Mataram University- The Institute for Research and Community Service of Mataram University released 1.494 students for Community Service Program for Village Community Empowerment for the period of June – August 2023 at Mataram UNiversity Rectorate yard on Tuesday (20/6).
In implementing this students’ program, The Institute for Research and COmmunity Mataram University collaborated with the local government in Dompu, the regional government in West Sumbawa, and the University of Cordova.
There were 1,494 students who involved in this program for periode of June – August 2023 and they are divided into 151 villages throughout West Nusa Tenggara. It spared in West Lombok Regency, Central Lombok Regency, East Lombok Regency, North Lombok Regency, and 2 more in Sumbawa island.
The Rector of Mataram University, Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D delivered a message to all students.
“Community Cervice program is actually how you implement and apply the knowledge you get. And you will also learn how to live directly in the community, “he said.
Furthermore, Rector of Mataram University explained about the development of Community Cervice Program which is planned to spear into other islands as target.
“We also pioneered the International Community Service Program and we collaborate with South Korean students. It means not only local, regional, national but also on an international
scale,” said Prof. Bambang.
Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Ir. I Gusti Putu Muliarta Aryana, MP., as secretary of Institute for Research and Community Service Mataram University reported related to the implementation of Community Cervice Program for the period of June – August 2023.
“This is the first year after the last 20 years ago that we have never placed Mataram Univeristy’s students on the other island, namely Sumbawa island, which we place in Dompu Regency and West Sumbawa Regency,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dr. Drs. Lalu Makripuddin, M.Si representative of the National Family Planning Coordinating Agency of West Nusa Tenggara Province conveyed that the major problems we faced is stunting cases.
“West Nusa Tenggsrs is in 3rd ranked in the highest stunting rate in Indonesia. Next, we will do various approaches. I am sure that the involvement of several thousand students will have a significant influence on stunting prevention,” he said.
Finally, Dr. Lalu Makripudin expressed his gratitude to Mataram University. “behalf of National Family Planning Coordinating Agency representatives both at the center and in West Nusa Tenggara, I would like to thank the University of Mataram for the involvement in Community Service Program students to socialize stunting in West Nusa Tenggara,” he concluded.
