MBKM Program Opens International Opportunities for Student Research at University of Mataram
Mataram, University of Mataram – Syaftirridho Putri, a student of the Mathematics Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Mataram (FMIPA Unram), succeeded in opening international research opportunities through the Independent Campus Independent Learning Program (MBKM) which was attended from February to June 2024.
Through independent research in collaboration with Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM), the student who is usually called Idho succeeded in presenting the results of his research at the AAAG International Algebra Seminar (AIAS) 2024 organized by the University of Technology Malaysia (UTM).
The research was conducted for one semester in even semester (semester 6) with the theme “Sombor Index, Reduced Sombor Index, and Average Sombor Index of Coprime Graph Associated to the Dihedral Groups of Order D2n”.
In an interview conducted by the Unram Public Relations team on Wednesday (28/8), Idho said his motivation to join the MBKM program was based on the desire to create something that had never existed before. During the research process, Idho found a solid team in Algebra and Combinatorics (Alcomb), which helped him in exploring this topic.
“Through this MBKM program, I got a valuable opportunity to be involved in algebra research and present the results at the international level. This is a highly valuable experience for my character and intellectual development,” Idho said.
The MBKM program also provides significant training in self-esteem, responsibility, and public speaking skills. The role of international lecturers is crucial in providing suggestions and constructive criticism during the research process, so that the results obtained improve.
The biggest challenge Idho faced was finding the spearhead index, reduced spearhead index, and average spearhead index of the coprime graph on the dihedral group. However, Idho can overcome this challenge with his precision in analyzing the graph patterns formed.
