Ready to Compete in POMNAS XVIII 2023, Unram Sends 18 of its Best Athletes

Mataram, Universitas Mataram – A total of 18 best athletes from Universitas Mataram (Unram) have prepared to compete and are Optimist to achieve an achievement at the XVIII National Student Sports Week (POMNAS) 2023 which takes place from November 13-22 in South Kalimantan.

This year Unram is participating in POMNAS by competing in 7 sports out of a total of 16 sports, including kempo, taekwondo, karate, pencak silat, swimming, and chess.

The opening of POMNAS was attended by the Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia (Menpora RI), Governor of South Kalimantan, Forkopimda South Kalimantan, Expert Staff of the Minister of Kemendikbudristek RI for Talent Management, Chairman of BAPOMI Indonesia, Head of Indonesian Talent Development Center (BPTI), Rector of Lambung Mangkurat University, Rectors of universities across Indonesia, Director of Belmawa RI, and POMNAS athletes from all over Indonesia.

In this POMNAS, South Kalimantan is the host with the support of Lambung Mangkurat University, ready to welcome all the best students from all over Indonesia that are ready to compete.

“There are a total of 2,717 participating athletes from 34 provinces in Indonesia. With our mutual support, we can conduct this event. Welcome to all contingents,” said the Rector of Lambung Mangkurat University.

Menpora RI, Dito Ariotedjo when he opened POMNAS XVII also said that sport is one of the educational mediums that can provide opportunities for students to develop the values needed in life as prospective national leaders.

“Achievement for students is an important thing that must be achieved because students have 2 advantages, which are the golden age period for optimal achievement and students do have high reasoning power so they can solve problems quickly and accurately,” he said.

Menpora Dito hopes that students can use time and space in POMNAS to strive with all their strength to gain achievements.

“We, the Indonesian Ministry of Youth and Sports, will always support this POMNAS and hopefully in the series of events it will provide outstanding results, especially in achieving the achievements targeted by students in developing student interests and talents. Congratulations on running this student sports week and continue to achieve the sports achievements that are expected,” added Menpora Dito.

The opening ceremony of POMNAS XVIII Year 2023 was officially opened by archery to the screen carried out by the Indonesian Menpora accompanied by the Governor of South Kalimantan.
