Rector of Unram Opens PKKMB SNBT Pathway, Guides New Students to a High-Quality Future ‌

Mataram, University of Mataram – The opening of the Introduction of New Student Campus Life (PKKMB) for the National Based Test Selection (SNBT) Pathway by the Rector of the University of Mataram (Unram) was held on Tuesday (23/7) at the M. Yusuf Abu Bakar Auditorium Building, Unram.

The Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Alumni, Dr. Sujita, S.T., M.T reported that the participants of the PKKMB SNBT pathway in 2024 consisted of 2,992 students consisting of the Faculty of Economics and Business with 501 students; Faculty of Animal Husbandry 151 students; Faculty of Agriculture 363 students; Faculty of Law, Social and Political Sciences 423 students; Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences 152; Faculty of Engineering 170 students; Faculty of Food Technology and Agroindustry 125 students; Faculty of Teacher Training and Education 752 students; and Faculty of Medicine and Health 150 students.

Rector of Unram, Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, S.H., M.Agr.St., Ph.D. in his speech as well opened the event appealed to new students to avoid the use of narcotics, radicalism that causes division, and emphasize attitudes related to sexual violence.

“Unram continues to fight against narcotics, so we do not tolerate if anyone becomes a drug user or dealer because it can damage the future of the nation’s generation. Furthermore, we are a campus that does not tolerate divisions and radicalism because we are a mini Indonesia which consists of various diversities that become one for the progress of the nation. Then, we must also minimize things related to sexual harassment,” he said.

In addition, he also added that to achieve a quality future, students can emphasize critical thinking and not only concentrate on the achievement index but also need to sharpen soft skills, and remain enthusiastic in pursuing education.

“My children, this campus is the one that upholds critical thinking and prioritizes dignified arguments. To be successful in achieving a quality future, we should not only focus on the achievement index but also need to develop soft skills which include self-confidence, public speaking, and others. Never be discouraged by financial barriers. Because money is not everything, there are many ways for you to achieve your goals in pursuing education,” he added.

Furthermore, the PKKMB event was filled with an introduction to campus officials guided by the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Sitti Hilyana, M.Si., and continued with materials to equip the beginning of new student campus life.

The first day of PKKMB SNBT presented a number of speakers, including Ahmad Junaidi, MA, Ph.D.; Wira Bhakti, Brigadier General Agus Bhakti, S.I.P., M.I.P., M.Han.; Dr. Sujita, S.T., M.T.; and Drs. Jakson Siahaan, M.Pd.

The material presented in a row is related to the Higher Education System and International Classes, National Insight and Pancasila as State Ideology and State Defense, Unram Student Development Patterns and closed with material related to PKM and Entrepreneurship Programs.
