SMAN 2 Sumbawa Conducts Study Tour at Unram
Mataram, Universitas Mataram – Universitas Mataram (Unram) received a visit from a group of SMA 2 Sumbawa at the Rector’s Conference Room, Rectorate of Unram on Friday (5/1). The Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Sitti Hilyana, M.Si., accompanied by the Head of Academic, Student Affairs, and Planning Bureau, Irpan Siswadi, S.Sos., M.Si., warmly welcomed the arrival of 28 students and 2 teachers of SMAN 2 Sumbawa.
Prof. Dr. Sitti Hilyana gave a brief introduction about Unram to the students of SMAN 2 Sumbawa, where currently Unram has 34,000 students; 77 study programs, of which 5 are additional new study programs at the Faculty of Medicine; 9 faculties consisting of S1, S2, and S3.
“If some of you want to become doctors, both professional doctors and specialists, we have prepared for you, especially if you look at the 10 regencies / cities with the longest beaches, Sumbawa Island, when later Sumbawa Island becomes an international destination like Mandalika, a marine specialist doctor is needed who will serve many people on Sumbawa Island. Unram has prepared that,” he said.
The Vice Rector for Academic Affairs also said that Unram’s facilities and quality are not inferior to other universities. This can be one of the indicators that can be considered. He also invited the group of SMAN 2 Sumbawa to explore the facilities at Unram. He also advised the students of SMAN 2 Sumbawa to develop soft skills, so that in the future they can grow into someone who excels in all fields, so that later they can compete in the national and international arena.
Indonesian Literature Language Teacher of SMAN 2 Sumbawa as well as Program Supervisor, Purna Aprianti said that this program has been launched since July 2023. This is the second time the program has been implemented at Unram. Last year, the program with the theme of study tours was held at FKIP Unram. This year it was held at the Rectorate of Unram, which has a larger sub-field, because it realizes that students have different interests in determining their study choices.
“Our motivation for organizing this activity is to provide a clear description as possible to the children, who previously did not really understand, to know and understand, so that it will be easy to determine the next educational choice, because to be honest, many of these children do not have a choice,” she said.
Purna Aprianti expressed her gratitude for the extraordinary welcome to Unram who had been pleased to receive the visit of SMAN 2 Sumbawa’s group.
