Socialisation of Independent Campus Curriculum Development: Unram Encourages Relevance and Internationalisation of Study Programs

Mataram, University of Mataram – The University of Mataram (Unram) Aquaculture Study Program successfully held a Socialisation of Assistance for Accelerating the Development of Higher Education Curriculum and Learning to Support the Independent Campus for all study programs in Unram. This socialisation took place in the Senate Conference Room, Rectorate of Unram on Wednesday (13/11). The event was attended by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Faculty Deans, Head of LPMPP, and Head of Study Programs within Unram.

The event was officially opened by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Sitti Hilyana, who expressed her hopes for the Aquaculture Study Program and other study programs regarding the importance of curriculum development in line with the concept of Independent Campus and internationalisation.

“Today’s theme is related to the curriculum development assistance program from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, giving us the opportunity to design the curriculum in accordance with what is outlined in Permendikbud No. 53. We hope that our friends in the Aquaculture Study Program will also start designing the curriculum in accordance with international interests and also in accordance with what stakeholders want,” she said.

Another speech was delivered by the Head of LPMPP, represented by Dr. Abdul Atsar, S.H., M.H. He said that in curriculum development there are several important things that must be considered.

“To make curriculum development, there is a vision and mission of curriculum development that we must hold. The first is relevance, where the curriculum must be ready to answer the needs of society. Second, the curriculum must be flexible so that it is not rigid. Furthermore, the curriculum must be applicable in the business world or the industrial world. When we develop the curriculum, it must implement the goals of the university,” he said.

Also present at the event was the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. Ir. Bambang Dipokusumo, M.Si, who emphasised the importance of MBKM development within Unram.

“In higher education learning is an important direction of growth for our achievements. In this activity, the Aquaculture Study Program received assistance in the declaration of an independent curriculum that is used by the Aquaculture Study Program to continue to develop more in the achievement of curriculum optimisation that continues to move. The curriculum that is built now is how the job market can be optimised from our graduates so that later they will not be unemployed,” he said.

This socialisation also presented speakers who delivered testimonials from related partners, namely representatives from BPBL Lombok and PT. Bibit Unggul. Participants consisting of Heads of Study Programs throughout Unram seemed enthusiastic about discussing the challenges and opportunities in developing an Independent Campus-based curriculum in each study programme.

With this socialisation, it is hoped that all study programs at Unram, including the Aquaculture Study Program, can design and update their curriculum to be more relevant and ready to face the globalisation era. This event is an important first step in Unram’s efforts to continue to improve the quality of higher education on campus, in line with the big vision of Kampus Merdeka.
