The 8th ICST Discusses Research Sustainability in Science and Technology for a Better Future

Mataram, Universitas Mataram – The Research and Community Service Center of Universitas Mataram (LPPM Unram) organized the 8th International Conference on Science and Technology (ICST) 2023 at Raja Hotel, Kuta Mandalika on Monday (6/11). This conference is a collaboration with the Research and Community Service Center, Mulawarman University and Bina Nusantara University.

ICST 2023 carried the theme Sustainability in Research on Science and Technology for a Better Future, is a continuity of the science and technology conference series that has previously been held annually since 2016 at Unram, Lombok, Indonesia.

Rector of Unram, Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D. when opened the ICST 2023 event expressed his gratitude for the ICST 2023.

“It is a privilege for me to be able to see such a diverse and accomplished group of researchers, scientists, leaders, scholars and practitioners, who travel both far and near to be able to attend this important event,” he said.

Prof. Bambang explained that we are at a critical time in human history, where the choices we make today will determine the quality of life for generations to come. It is important to harness the power of science and technology to address the challenges we face today, and this conference provides a platform for that important dialogue. It will involve experts in various fields, sharing research, exchanging ideas, exploring new perspectives, and building future collaborations, as this conference is not only about academic presentations but also about building cooperation and partnerships.

At the end of his speech, Prof. Bambang invited everyone to be able to contribute to overcoming future challenges and to explore sustainable solutions that are not only issues around the environment, but include sustainable economic and social. This discussion is expected to produce new breakthroughs in the field of technology and can be an input in policy making and encourage positive change.

The Rector of Mulawarman University, Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Abdunnur, M.Si., IPU also gave his speech virtually, he expressed his gratitude for the collaboration between three universities in organizing ICST 2023. ICST 2023 is very strategic in order to contribute to the transformation of environmental changes and human life as well as the development of higher education.

“We hope ICST 2023 can provide opportunities for scientists and experts to share knowledge in the field of science and technology which will significantly contribute to the development of science and technology. We also hope ICST 2023 can strengthen collaboration in other programs in the future,” he said.

At the end of his speech, Prof. Abdunnur expressed high expectations that ICST 2023 could produce final results in the form of articles and publications in highly reputable journal institutions.

Rector of Bina Nusantara University, Dr. Nelly, S.Kom., M.M., CSCA in her speech virtually explained that in this era full of environmental and social challenges, scientific research and innovation play crucial roles in providing sustainable solutions. ICST 2023 is a platform for researchers and professionals from various backgrounds to exchange ideas and collaborate. At the end of her speech, Dr. Nelly invited all parties to work together to support sustainable science and technology.

Prof. Ir. Buan Anshari, Ph.D., as the Chief Organizer of ICST 2023 said that after going through a rigorous pre-review process, more than 133 papers were accepted for presentation at the 8th ICST 2023. All articles will be published by AIP Conferences Proceeding indexed by Scopus and Web of Science databases. The researchers and participants who attended the conference came from the United States, Japan, India, Cyprus, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia. In addition, several outstanding keynote speakers and invited speakers presented cutting-edge research in the field of sustainable science and technology.
