The Joy of Unram Graduation: 1901 Graduates Ready to Face National and Global Challenges
Mataram, University of Mataram – The University of Mataram (Unram) graduation ceremony for the September 2024 period graduated 1901 graduates consisting of 11 doctors, 124 masters, 1690 bachelors, 76 diplomas. The graduation activities took place at the M. Yusuf Abu Bakar Auditorium of Unram for 2 days on Monday (23/9) and Tuesday (24/9).
The 1690 graduates were distributed from the Faculty of Economics and Business (285 graduates), Faculty of Agriculture (275 graduates), Faculty of Animal Science (74 graduates), Faculty of Law, Social and Political Sciences (250 graduates), Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (440 graduates), Faculty of Engineering (149 graduates), Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (83 graduates), Faculty of Food Technology and Argoindustry (59 graduates), and Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (75 graduates).
In the speech of the Rector of Unram, represented by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs of Unram, Prof. Dr. Sitti Hilyana appreciated the graduates’ struggle in completing their studies and congratulated the parents. In his speech, Prof. Nana expected that Unram graduates must be able to become reliable learners who are competent, intelligent, agile and adaptive in taking opportunities, and ready to face the challenges of a competitive future along with advances in science and technology.
“Current conditions force us to grow smart with technological literacy and other new literacies to add to your various skills which include problem solving, creative, communicative, collaborative, national character, and insight,” explained Prof. Nana.
In addition, Prof. Nana also reminded that Unram graduates must be able to become job creators, not job seekers, who have creative and innovative ideas, have hard skills and soft skills, and are equipped with a strong leadership spirit and personality.
Furthermore, the Vice Rector of Unram said, “Graduation is not the end of everything, but graduation is the first step to practicing the knowledge that graduates gain while on campus.”
Graduates are expected to use their knowledge for the community, business world, industry, government, and other partners in solving increasingly complex problems and challenges in the future.
In addition, in her speech Prof. Nana also brought good news including Unram’s success in achieving the 19th rank of State Universities in Indonesia according to QS World University Rankings, reaching the top 3 best universities in Eastern Indonesia, and increasing the number of professors in various fields of science from 62 to 99 professors by 2024.
At the end of her speech, the Vice Rector of Unram conveyed a quote from Thomas J. Stanley, Ph.D. (USA business expert), “A person’s success is not determined by GPA alone or the top alma mater where he studied, but is determined by his soft skills such as honesty, discipline, social intelligence, hard work, love for work, strong leadership and competitive and creative personality.”
There were also various performances presented from various groups such as the Unram Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP), alumni, the UKM Seni Budaya, and several graduates who enlivened the Unram graduation ceremony for the September 2024 period.
