The VI PEPADU National Seminar: Collaboration between Unram, UHO, UBT, and UNDOVA in Developing Excellent Products Based on Local Potential Towards Sustainable Blue Economy and Green Economy

Mataram, University of Mataram – On Thursday, September 26, 2024, the Research and Community Service Institute of the University of Mataram (LPPM Unram) successfully held the PEPADU 2024 National Seminar with the theme “Development of Excellent Products Based on Local Potential in Realizing Sustainable Blue Economy and Green Economy”.

The event was attended by academics, researchers, students, and government officials who discussed the importance of local product development in supporting sustainable economies.

In this event, the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs of Unram, Prof. Dr. Sitti Hilyana; Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation, and Information Systems, Prof. Akmaluddin, S.T., M.Sc. (Eng.), Ph.D.; Head of LPPPM, Prof. Dr. Ir. Sukartono, M.Agr. accompanied by the Secretary of LPPM, Prof. Dr. Ir. I Gusti Putu Muliarta Aryana, M.P.

In addition, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Ir. Muhamad Syamsu Iqbal, S.T., M.T., Ph.D.; Dean of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Drs. Lalu Zulkifli, M.Si., Ph.D.; Dean of the Faculty of Food Technology and Agroindustry, Dr. Ir. Satrijo Saloko, M.P.; and Head of the Committee, Dr. Ni Wayan Sri Suliartini, S.P., M.P. were present.

The speakers in this event included Baiq Nelly Yuniarti, AP, M.Si, Head of the NTB Provincial Trade Office who currently also serves as Acting. Regent of Dompu; Prof. Ma’ruf Kasim, S.Pi, M.Si, Ph.D. from Halu Oleo University; Dr. Sabarudin Akhmad, S.T., M.T., IPU, ASEAN Eng, CRP, MQM, CITMP, MPM, CIOMP from Trunojoyo University; Baiq Yulfia Elsadewi Yanuartati, SP., M.Rur.Sys.Man, Ph.D from Unram, and moderated by Prof. Ir. Buan Anshari, ST., M.Sc.(Eng.), Ph.D..

Starting this event, the Head of the Committee, Dr. Ni Wayan Sri Suliartini, S.P., M.P. reported that the PEPADU National Seminar is a regular event that held annually by LPPM Unram, where this year’s national seminar is the sixth service seminar since it was first held in 2019.

“This event is not only a national seminar, but is coupled with the KKN-PMD Product Exhibition and continued with the National Collaborative Service of 4 universities, including Unram, Halu Oleo University, Borneo Tarakan University, and Cordova University,” she said.

The seminar, which took place in the Selaparang Balroom of Lombok Raya Hotel, Mataram, was opened by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Sitti Hilyana. In her speech, she emphasized the importance of collaboration between various parties to maximize the local potential in Indonesia, especially in the context of blue economy and green economy.

“We would like to emphasize that collaboration between universities is essential to encourage the development of a sustainable green and blue economy. Through cooperation in research and publications, we can share valuable knowledge and experiences. This not only enriches academic insights, but also creates synergies that allow us to maximize existing local potential, so that it can have a positive impact on society, which in turn will support community welfare and preserve the environment,” explained Prof. Nana.

In this seminar, a number of prominent speakers from both the government and academia presented research, service, and best practices regarding superior products based on local potential. Discussions also focused on challenges and solutions that can be implemented to achieve sustainable economic goals in the region.

One of the speakers, Baiq Nelly Yuniarti, AP, M.Si., said, “The ‘ Bela and Beli Produk Lokal’ (Defend and Buy Local Products) movement is a strategic step to encourage regional economic growth. By strengthening the competitiveness of local products, we are not only helping small and medium enterprises, but also preserving the culture and natural wealth of NTB. Public awareness to choose local products will have a positive impact on the economy and welfare of our community.”

The seminar ended with an interactive discussion session, where participants provided input and ideas for further development. Great hope was expressed that this seminar could become a forum for sustainable collaboration in encouraging economic development based on local potential.

As a conclusion, Prof. Dr. Ir. Sukartono, M.Agr. as the Head of LPPM Unram said, “We are deeply grateful for the extraordinary participation in this National Seminar on Service and Product Showcase. With around 487 participants in total, including delegates from various universities such as Halu Oleo University, Borneo Tarakan University, Cordova University, Bima College of Economics, Mahasaraswati University Denpasar, Malang State University, Sriwijaya University, Stikes Yarsi Mataram, the Health Office, West Sumbawa Regency, UPT Health Perampuan West Lombok Health Office, Harapan Keluarga Hospital, the NTB Provincial Hospital and Gunung Rinjani University, as well as the Guest University, Trunojoyo Madura University, this seminar has become one of the largest we have ever organized.”

“We hope that this seminar will not only be a place to share knowledge and experience, but also trigger closer collaboration between institutions in the development of local superior products. Let us continue to work together to realize the vision of a sustainable economy and empower the potential that exists in our region. Thank you to all those who have contributed,” concluded Prof. Sukartono.

This activity was closed with the Signing of Cooperation in National Collaboration Service between the Head of LPPM Unram; Head of LPPM UHO, Dr. La Aba, S.Si, M.Si.; Head of LPPM UBT, Dr. Etty Wahyuni MS., S.Hut., M.P.; and Head of DPPM UNDOVA, Khusnul Khotimah, S.H., M.H..

With the success of the PEPADU 2024 National Seminar, Unram showed its commitment to contribute to a more sustainable economic development, while empowering local potential in Indonesia.
