There were 1,158 New Mataram University Students Attanded New Student Orientation (PKKMB) SNBP
Mataram, Universitas Mataram – 1,158 new students of Universitas Mataram (Unram) attended the New Student Orientation (PKKMB) for the National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP) pathway at the M. Yusuf Abubakar Auditorium for three days starting Monday, June 12, 2023 to Wednesday, June 14, 2023.
There were 1,158 new students who passed the National Selection Based on Achievement SNBP. It consisted of 191 new students from the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), 60 new students from the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, 142 new students from the Faculty of Agriculture, 83 new students from the Faculty of Law, 57 new students from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA).
Furthermore, there were 136 new students from the Faculty of Engineering, 49 new students from the Faculty of Food Technology and Agroindustry, 301 new students from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), 56 new students from the Faculty of Medicine, 28 people from the Communication Science Study Program, 29 new students from the International Relations Study Program, and 26 new students from the Sociology Study Program.
Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Alumni (WR 3), Dr. Sujita, S.T., M.T. said that PKKMB in 2023 is a moment for university leaders to introduce and prepare the new students in the transition process to become mature and independent students, and it aimed to accelerate the process of student adaptation to the campus environment.
“Hopefully that, the new students can understand and get to know the new environment, especially the organization, education system, and learning in higher education,” explained by vice rector 3 Mataram University.
In addition, Sujita added that the purpose of implementing New Student Orientation PKKMB 2023 was to increase awareness of nation, state, and love for the country. The students understand the importance of education such as character education and competency development, so that it is useful for nation building.
“I also expect that we can create family friendship between students and lecturers, fellow students, and educational staff,” he said.
Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D. as the Rector of Mataram University also welcomed the new students. “Congratulations, you have made it to the best university in West Nusa Tenggara. You should be proud because not all people can made it through the achievement pathway,” said the 10th Rector of Mataram Univeristy.
The professor of the Faculty of Agriculture explained that interest and talent mapping will be carried out for all new students. This is intended for all students, so that, the university can find out the talents of all students and channel support according to the talents of each student.
“Unram has many UKM (Student Activity Units), please choose what UKM you want to join according to your talents. You need to sharpen your talents not only in academic but also non-academic fields,” he said.
Prof. Bambang hopes that the new students can be the next generation of the nation who are able to realize the Golden Indonesia in 2045.
