United States Consulate General Public Lecture, Strengthening Bilateral Relations
Mataram, University of Mataram – The Office of International Affairs of University of Mataram (KUI Unram) held another public lecture by presenting John McDaniel, Chief of Political and Economic Affairs of the United States Consulate General Surabaya. The public lecture was held in the Theatre Room of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Unram on Wednesday (21/2) afternoon.
In a public lecture attended by dozens of Unram students, McDaniel delivered interesting material about the United States partnership in Eastern Indonesia. He explained about the main keys in the bilateral relationship between the United States and Indonesia. McDaniel highlighted the importance of cooperation in economic, political, and commercial aspects.
“Our cooperation covers a wide range of sectors from fisheries, agriculture, aquaculture, tourism, renewable and clean energy, better healthcare access, biodiversity, and conservation. We also work together in monitoring and prosecuting human trafficking, as well as fighting for human rights and many more,” he said.
In addition, McDaniel also highlighted the potential for cooperation in education and culture, and the importance of cultural and knowledge exchange between the two countries. He also provided insight into the efforts made by the United States Consulate General Surabaya in strengthening relations with regions in Indonesia.
This public lecture allowed Unram students to gain a deeper understanding of international relations, as well as opportunities for partnerships with the United States in various fields. This event is also an essential momentum in broadening the insights for students who attend.
