Mataram, University of Mataram – University of Mataram (Unram) and West Sumbawa Regency Government agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding and cooperation agreement to improve human resources (HR) in the health sector on Wednesday (17/1) at the Rector’s Conference Room, Unram Rectorate. The cooperation resulted in a medical scholarship program that will be given to prospective students from KSB.

Prof. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D., appreciated the arrival of the Regent of West Sumbawa Regency, Dr. Ir. H. W. Musyafirin, MM., who was pleased to be present at Unram. In his speech, he said that this cooperation was an extraordinary thing. Looking at the Pentahelix concept, this collaboration is a form of application in real form, where Pentahelix is a multi-stakeholder concept where elements of government, academics, agencies and or businesses, communities or communities, and mass media collaborate and commit to achieving the same goals. This is what underlies the alignment of these various elements to jointly improve human resources in the health sector both in KSB and other regions.

“This cooperation is something of very high value, because this cooperation will produce prospective doctors that we accept at FKIK Unram. 70% of the tests at Unram are managed nationally, meaning that those who enter FKIK Unram are mostly children from Java, Bali and other islands, only 30% are managed by Unram. This is what we anticipate how the younger generation in KSB have the opportunity to become doctors, have the opportunity to return to their regions, and have the opportunity to serve, improve, guarantee and improve the quality of health in KSB, “he said.

Prof. Bambang is determined to create a young generation that will improve human resources in the health sector, especially in KSB and can have the opportunity to study as high as possible, not only up to S1, but up to the level of specialist doctors. Until now there are 5 specialists at FKIK Unram and 3 other specialists are being proposed to be opened, so that general practitioners can return to Unram to improve the quality of education and the quality of service in the community. Furthermore, this cooperation will also ensure equal distribution for areas that lack doctors.

The Rector of Unram invited the various parties involved to always be sincere. Spreading sincerity to develop the region, filling health workers, providing opportunities for the younger generation to gain knowledge as high as possible. He hopes that this sincerity will become a field of charity for all.

“On behalf of the Unram academic community, I am very grateful to the KSB Regent and his staff for his warm welcome when I visited KSB, without thinking twice, he immediately said he was ready for this program. It is extraordinary, a leader who is very much in favor of the interests of improving human resources, a leader who is in favor of how to overcome the shortages of health workers and the unequal distribution of service justice in Indonesia, “said Prof. Bambang.

The Regent of West Sumbawa Regency, Dr. Ir. H. W. Musyafirin, MM., in his remarks conveyed his impression of the alignment of the Rector of Unram to the region regarding improving human resources in the health sector very clearly and very much felt by him.

“Previously no one had ever come like that, so when he came to KSB it seemed that he really understood the constraints in KSB, and that became part of our anxiety related to the existence of doctors in the regions, of course we did not think long anymore because this is something very good. At that time there was no long discussion, in fact I asked for unlimited, so that until they become doctors the best sons and daughters of KSB we will facilitate, so that the need for doctors can be achieved in a not too long time, “he said.

Dr. W. Musyafirin also thanked the Rector of Unram for the extraordinary welcome. “You come because you want to raise goodness and I think we also have to respond better, because after all there is no return for goodness other than goodness itself,” he added
