Unram Rector Strengthens Cooperation with University of New England Australia
Mataram, University of Mataram – In order to strengthen international relations and academic collaboration, the Rector of the University of Mataram (Unram), Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D., made a working visit to the University of New England (UNE), Armidale, Australia on November 1, 2024. The visit was warmly welcomed by Prof. Chris Armstrong, UNE Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research in a warm and enthusiastic welcome ceremony.
Extension of Memorandum of Understanding
The main agenda of this visit was the signing of the extension of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Unram and UNE. This MoU is an important foundation in strengthening the strategic cooperation between the two universities, especially in the field of collaborative research. Through this MoU, Unram and UNE agreed to continue to expand the scope of cooperation in the fields of agriculture, business, medicine and law.
“The extension of this MoU reflects Unram’s commitment to continue to improve the quality of education, research, and community service through international collaboration. We are optimist that Unram’s cooperation with UNE will have a positive impact on both institutions and the community,” said Prof. Bambang in his speech.
Series of Strategic Meetings
In addition to the MoU signing, the visit was also filled with various strategic meetings. Prof. Bambang held in-depth discussions with UNE’s School of Agriculture, Business, and Law to discuss the potential for further cooperation in areas of focus for both institutions. In addition, the Rector of Unram also explored joint research opportunities that are innovative and relevant to global challenges.
Another agenda was a meeting with the UNE School of Law which aimed to strengthen relations in the field of legal education. The meeting discussed various cooperation programs, including lecturer exchanges, joint curriculum development, and research collaboration in the field of international law.

This working visit is a strategic step for Unram in achieving the vision of becoming a world-class university. Collaboration with UNE not only opens opportunities for students and lecturers to gain international experience, but also contributes to the development of science that benefits the wider community.
