Mataram, University of Mataram – The Rector of the University of Mataram (Unram), Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D. officially received the participants of the Merdeka Student Exchange (PMM) batch 4 on Friday (23/2). The welcoming ceremony was held at the Unram Dome building which was attended by 370 students from 143 universities throughout Indonesia.

On this occasion, the Rector of Unram, Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D. directly expressed his welcome to PMM 4 participants and his appreciation for the students’ success in the selection process.

“Welcome to Unram, welcome to this university. You are the selected ones from more than 9,600 students, during your one semester study at Unram I am sure you will see many unforgettable places, unforgettable moments, unforgettable events, while at Unram and while in Lombok,” he said.

One of the students participating in Unram’s PMM 4 inbound programme in 2024, Annisa Rukhillah Nur Fahturosa, conveyed her reasons for choosing Unram, namely because she was interested in the island of Lombok and was interested after learning about the previous batch of PMM programmes at Unram.

“The reason I chose Unram was because I often saw PMM 3 on TikTok like it was so exciting and I was interested in exploring Lombok. The first impression when I arrived was that the rectorate was nice, then when I went inside it turned out to be beautiful and quite spacious. I think Unram students are very friendly. For my own target, the main thing is of course that I want my academic grades to be safe, continue to increase my relations, and be able to explore Lombok more widely,” she said.

The college coordinator of PMM Unram, Aurelius Rofinus Lolong Teluma, S.S., M.A, in his report conveyed the activity plan of PMM 4 participants while at Unram.

“Mr Rector, while they are here, they will first of course study as usual in the faculties, in their respective study programmes. Some are in one study programme, some are cross study programmes, so they will enjoy all study programmes in Unram. Then, after that they will also carry out 16 Modules of the Archipelago, we have also planned a fairly large cultural festival,” he said in the programme implementation report.

Of the 400 quotas available for Unram, at least 390 students successfully passed the selection and 370 students confirmed their participation in the PMM 4 programme. The 370 participants of the PMM 4 inbound Unram programme in 2024 will undergo lectures for one semester at Unram and follow 16 Nusantara Module packages that aim to introduce students to the culture of West Nusa Tenggara and community service programmes through social contributions.
