Unram Supports SDGs Through the 19th Islands of the World Conference
Mataram, University of Mataram – University of Mataram (Unram) shows its commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by organizing the 19th Islands of the World Conference which will be held from 25 to 29 June 2024.
This international conference carries the theme “Islands and Resilience: Global Opportunities” and highlighted crucial issues such as climate change, island governance, blue economy, island culture, island networks and digital ecosystems, and island nation development.
A total of 131 presenters from 28 countries attended the conference, discussing various important aspects related to island resilience in line with several SDGs, including goal 13 (Addressing Climate Change), goal 14 (Ocean Ecosystems), and goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Settlements).
Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D., as the Rector of Unram, emphasized Unram’s commitment in supporting international programs that are in line with the SDGs. “Our university tries to be a home for global change makers,” he said.
The conference also marked the launch of the AIS University Network and Archipelgic Sciences, a strategic move to strengthen academic collaboration across islands around the world, which also supports the 17th SDGs goal (Partnership for the Goals).
