Unram Welcomes Visit from Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada
Mataram, University of Mataram – The University of Mataram (Unram) received a visit from Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada, on Thursday, 5 December 2024. The event took place in the Rector’s Meeting Room, Unram Rectorate, with honoured guests Prof. Dr. Bing Chen and Ms. Sarah Teo. This visit aims to follow up on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) previously agreed upon by both institutions.
The Rector of Unram, Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D., extended his warm welcome to the guests. In his speech, he emphasised Unram’s commitment to continue strengthening international cooperation networks to improve the quality of education, research and innovation.
“Memorial University of Newfoundland is a strategic partner that can help Unram expand global collaboration, especially in the fields of engineering and environment. We hope this visit can strengthen the relationship between the two institutions through concrete programmes,” said the Rector of Unram.
This visit discussed various important agendas that will be planned, including International Guest Lecture at the Faculty of Engineering (FT) Unram, discussion of Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Dean of FT, and discussion of Implementing Agreement (IA) with the Civil Engineering Master Study Programme.
Prof. Dr Bing Chen, as a professor in civil (environmental) engineering also appreciated Unram’s efforts in bridging international collaboration. “We see a lot of potential to work together, especially with Unram’s spirit in developing global-based education,” he said.
The visit ended with a commitment from both parties to immediately realise the points of cooperation that had been discussed. With this synergy, Unram and Memorial University of Newfoundland are expected to contribute more in answering global challenges through education and innovation.
