Unram will lead international seaweed research consortium
Mataram, University of Mataram – University of Mataram (Unram) is honored to be the leader in a cooperation consortium involving ASEAN countries, China, Japan, and South Korea.
This information was conveyed by Dr. Eka Sunarwidhi Prasedya, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D., who was present as an Indonesian delegate as well as a Unram representative at the launch and signing of the cooperation held in Fuzhou, China, June 1, 2024.
The event marked the start of collaboration between industry and universities from various countries in the region, with a primary focus on seaweed research and development. Indonesia is represented by the Indonesian Seaweed Association for industrial cooperation, while Unram, Jenderal Soedirman University (Unsoed), and Diponegoro University (Undip) represent the academic sector.
“This cooperation in research mainly aims to establish a joint laboratory for seaweed research,” Eka said, emphasizing the importance of this collaboration in advancing seaweed research.
The initiative is expected to strengthen research and innovation in seaweed, as well as strengthen the relationship between universities and industry in the region.
